On Monday, May 5, the Tony Administration Committee revealed the names of a quartet of honorees who are to be recognized in the four non-competitive Tony categories. Composer/lyricist Jerry Herman, Virginia's Signature Theatre, and longtime press agent Shirley Herz will be honored at the 63rd annual Tony Awards ceremony on June 7. Actress/writer Phyllis Newman will receive the newest Tony Award for her volunteer work as an advocate for women's health.

Legendary musical director Don Pippin, one of the leading conductors in the United States, has taken up the baton to lead the National Symphony Orchestra this week as Kennedy Center honors the accomplishments of Jerry Herman in JERRY HERMAN'S BROADWAY. The gifted Pippin has had a long and rich creative history with Herman as he has collaborated on the composers many works including such musicals as 'Ben Franklin in Paris', 'Mack and Mabel', 'Mame' and 'La Cage Aux Follies'.

Stage and screen actress Sandy Duncan will 'coax the blues right out of the horn,' as she makes her Barrington Stage debut as the glamorous Mame Dennis in a semi-staged concert version of Jerry Herman's legendary musical 'Mame,' directed by Julianne Boyd. BSC's first fall production in its new home in Pittsfield, at 30 Union Street, will run for two weeks from October 4 through 15.
