It is England, 1872, and a sense of longing has filled the halls of Eton College. Under the guidance of their controversially progressive tutor, best friends Regy and Chat have found themselves enraptured in what can only be the pure innocence of love. However, with the introduction of a new headmaster and the beginning of their adult lives around the corner, how their relationship will grow is uncertain. Inspired by their real journals, poems, and letters, Bright and Brave follows Regy and Chat through their lives as they struggle with societal pressures, grapple with who they are, and cope with what it means to love.

BWW Review: Meg Flather Takes Flight In OUTBOUND PLANE at Don't Tell Mama
by Stephen Mosher - Dec 31, 2019

In the final moments of her one-woman musical play OUTBOUND PLANE, Meg Flather compares the process of recovering from pain and failure and loss to being trapped in mud. The analogy immediately conjures images of the saying about the Lotus -- that is when one realizes that Meg Flather is the living, breathing, walking, talking embodiment of that philosophy. All the parts of Meg Flather make up the ideology of the Lotus and the Mud. She is the earth, and she is the water; together she makes the mud. And out of the mud has bloomed the blossom. Meg Flather has, herself, created that which makes her bloom so bright, so fresh, so replete of color, of fragrance, of peace and of tranquility. Meg Flather is everything that she, herself, needs to shine brightly in a world rife with the dingy and the dank.

BWW Review: PETER PAN & TINKER BELL Panto Flies Into Laguna Playhouse
by Michael Quintos - Dec 14, 2019

The family-friendly fun of Lythgoe Family Productions' annual holiday British Panto returns to the Laguna Playhouse, this time with the reimagined Yuletide re-telling of PETER PAN & TINKER BELL: A PIRATE'S CHRISTMAS, which continues through December 29, 2019 in the city of Laguna Beach. Overall, the show is an amusing, energetic Panto, though admittedly not as over-the-top as the two previous holiday Panto's that I have seen staged here. Still, the show had me smiling the whole time, and it's safe to say that you and your family will like sharing the experience, too.

BWW Review: Epic and Extraordinary: Robin and Clark's TREASURE ISLAND Sets High Water Mark in Musical Theatre Excellence
by Carla Maria Verdino-Süllwold - Jun 28, 2019

There is magic afoot at MSMT's Pickard Theater - and miracles! Not supernatural ones, but rather those that happen when a fresh new work of musical theatre dazzles the public with its excitement and beauty. And that is exactly what Marc Robin and Curt Dale Clark's TREASURE ISLAND A MUSICAL ADVENTURE does as its charts an epic and extraordinary course that gives MSMT audiences a production that is grand, genuinely thrilling, and emotionally satisfying in a timeless way. Robert Louis Stevenson's novel has been adapted for stage and screen numerous times, but none has been as compelling, as simultaneously classic and contemporary as this new musical version, which had its world premiere at the Fulton Theatre in 2018. This East Coast premiere of TREASURE ISLAND offers audiences an opulent production, a brilliant team of creatives, cast, and crew, who pour all their energies into crafting an adventure for the ages. Known for bringing 'Broadway to Brunswick,' with TREASURE ISLAND MSMT has produced a show that is worthy to inhabit any Broadway stage and to find a lasting place in the American musical repertoire.
