Tickets prices vary and are available through the Benaroya Hall Box Office, at 206.215.4747 or online at www.benaroyahall.org.
BWW Review: FADE at Seattle Public Theater
by Kelly Rogers Flynt - October 16, 2018
FADE at Seattle Public Theater is a quiet little show that's worth making a lot of noise about. The play by Tanya Saracho is both a witty and scathing examination of classism, racism, and sexism. An immigrant looks to climb the corporate ladder in Hollywood, but the price of success may be more than she bargained for. Identity, heritage, and friendship are all tokens of negotiation.

The dance company that brought you the critically acclaimed Eleven Eleven: A High-Energy Meditation on Coincidence, whose work has been called "potent" and "bold" by Seattle Dances, now brings to Velocity's stage their elegy to the painfully awkward and sometimes breathtaking journey of growing up, replete with HYPERNOVA's signature combination of razor-edge precision and buoyant, youthful spunk.

BWW Review: SMT's LEGALLY BLONDE Could Be 'So Much Better'
by Jay Irwin - October 15, 2018
Recently (and I do mean recently) another company in town did a concert staging of "Legally Blonde" utilizing actors of color in roles that they might not normally be cast including an African American "Elle". So, I questioned the logic when I heard that Seattle Musical Theater was doing the same thing right on its heels. Sure, the other one was just a concert (although so well done that it felt like a full staging) and only for four performances so maybe they just want to capitalize on that momentum with a full staging with sets and costumes and everything. Unfortunately, the Seattle Musical Theatre production of "Legally Blonde" feels so misdirected, half-assed and underdone that the only similarities are the diversity in the casting and the name.
Comedian Sebastian Maniscalco Brings 2019 Stay Hungry Tour to Moore Theatre 1/12
by BWW News Desk - October 15, 2018
Billboard opined last month comedian, actor and best-selling author Sebastian Maniscalco "is starting the new year at the top of the comedy game," when announcing he would be taking the Madison Square Garden stage on Saturday, January 19, 2019. They weren't wrong. Additional shows sold out as quickly as they were added. Dubbed "one of standup comedy's breakthrough performers" in a recent CBS Sunday Morning profile, and "the comedian's comedian" by PEOPLE, Maniscalco is set to perform four shows at the famous venue (three of them already sold out) Jan. 19-20.
BWW Review: COME FROM AWAY Nat'l Tour at 5th Ave Still One of the Best Shows I've Seen ... Ever!
by Jay Irwin - October 15, 2018
Dear Readers, as many of you know, back in November of 2015 Seattle was blessed with being one of the first cities to see 'Come From Away' before it ventured on to be the hit it still is on Broadway. And if you recall my review you'll remember how I implored you to drop everything you were doing, including reading the review, and go get your tickets to catch this amazing show. And I'm sure many of my friends will attest to the constant nagging from me of 'have you gotten your 'Come From Away' tickets yet' so they wouldn't miss the show and the ones who succumbed still thank me to this day for said nagging. Well, Dear Readers, the first National Tour of 'Come From Away' has started and it's once again blessed our city to start in, this time at the 5th Avenue Theatre, and once again I must implore you to stop reading this immediately and go get tickets to this groundbreaking, heartfelt, stunner of a show (and then of course come back and read the rest of this) and my friends are all in for another round of nagging.

by Jay Irwin - October 11, 2018
Dear Readers, in the past you may have heard me refer to what I call "theatrical alchemy". It's where all the right elements seem to magically come together in just the right ways to form pure theatrical gold. Well, the Seattle Rep currently has a bunch of alchemists working with them with their joint production with the American Conservatory Theater and their presentation of "A Thousand Splendid Suns", a riveting tale filled with so much tragic beauty that you'll be left breathless.

Taiwan Philharmonic Performs Seattle Debut With Stephen Hough
by BWW News Desk - October 09, 2018
'One of Asia's best' (Los Angeles Times), the Taiwan Philharmonic performs at the Meany Center for the Performing Arts in Seattle on November 3 at 7:30 PM as part of their 2018 North American tour. The orchestra, led by Maestro Shao-Chia Lu, returns two years after their highly acclaimed United States debut in December 2016-this time featuring star pianist Stephen Hough. Described by The Guardian as possessing 'the most perfect piano playing conceivable,' Hough will perform Liszt's dazzling first piano concerto with the orchestra. The concert name 'From Formosa' gives a nod to the historic republic on the island of Taiwan while the music traces Taiwan's classical music tradition with Taiwanese composer Gordon Chin's 'Dancing Song' from Three Aboriginal Songs for Orchestra alongside Brahms's beloved second symphony.
Markus Stenz Conducts Kurtag World Premiere At La Scala
by BWW News Desk - October 09, 2018
This November at Teatro alla Scala, conductor Markus Stenz leads the world premiere of the highly-anticipated world premiere performance of Fin de Partie, the first and only opera by the beloved, visionary composer Gyorgy Kurtag, composed at the age of 91.  Based on the famous Samuel Beckett play, commonly performed in English as Endgame, the operatic version, to be sung in French, has been more than seven years in the making. At 450 pages, Fin de Partie is by far the largest score ever composed by the reputed "master of the miniature," who has for several decades maintained the desire of writing a musical treatment for the sparse, sardonically existential work. This production is staged by internationally-acclaimed artistic and theater director, Pierre Audi.
