Daddy at Summerhall

Daddy is an autobiographical solo performance by choreographer and dancer Joel Bray, a proud Wiradjuri man making his UK debut with this work that has toured major Australian festivals. Bray mixes conversation, contemporary dance, traditional Wiradjuri movement, and nightclub dancing to explore identity, trauma, and recovery as a queer First Nations man raised in a working-class environment. Resplendent in satin hotpants, he performs in promenade staging, moving among the audience and inviting volunteers into the action as co-storytellers. The production features composition and sound design by Naretha Williams, lighting design by Katie Sfetkidis, and set and costume design by James Lew.
