Third Annual AAPI Playwright Festival at San Jose Stage

Contemporary Asian Theater Scene (CATS), in partnership with San Jose Stage Company, presents the third annual AAPI Playwright Festival, a celebration of AAPI storytelling featuring theatrical staged readings of six newly commissioned short plays by Tasi Alabastro, Anne Yumi Kobori, Suhashini Krishnan, Jenny Nguyen Nelson, Aimee Suzara, and Phil Wong. The festival also features original monologues written by artistic producer Jeffrey Lo, performed by actors between plays. Under the creative leadership of Jeffrey Lo as artistic producer, with associate artistic producer Reed Flores and directors Flores and Melissa Mei Jones, the plays range from comedy and family stories to explorations of identity, culture, relationships, healing, and belonging.
