The 47th Bay Area Playwrights Festival presents public readings and workshops of four new plays by Jordan Bird, Maxine Dillon, Greg T. Nanni, and christina michelle watkins, selected from over 600 applicants. The works explore themes of neurodivergence and childhood trauma, Black history and plantation museum labor, suicide survivorship, and estranged sisterhood. In-person readings take place over two weekends in San Francisco, with on-demand recordings of the second public readings released October 19-25, 2026. Directors Tessa Corrie, Sinjin Jones, Leigh Rondon-Davis, and Adam L. Sussman helm the readings, with dramaturgs Tierra Allen, Scott Horstein, Austin Riffelmacher, and Ariella Wolfe collaborating on script development.
