The historic Woodlawn Theatre presents the San Antonio Premiere of the Tony Award-winning musical In the Heights, May 24 through June 23, 2013. With a zesty score that skips from Latin pop to hip hop and back, the show is infused with simple, yet infectious joy....just like the barrio in which the story unfolds.

Performances, sparkling with the beat of Bombasta, San Antonio's Barrio Big Band, will take place at the Woodlawn, 1920 Fredericksburg Rd., Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. Tickets are available to purchase online at www.woodlawntheatre.com, or by calling the box office at 210- 267- 8388. Prices are $15 for students and children, $20 for seniors and military, and $23 for adults.

Written by Quiara Alegría Hudes and conceived by Lin-Manuel Miranda, In the Heights is a Grammy Award winner and recipient of the Tony Award for Best Musical, Best Music and Lyrics, Best Choreography and Best Orchestrations. Adding to the trophy case, it also was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

In Washington Heights, the café con leche is light and sweet, the windows are always open, the barrio is filled with energy and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of Music. Here, Latino immigrants dream of succeeding in America while at the same time holding onto their culture and heritage. An uplifting, and joyous celebration of life, In the Heights shows us a salsa-infused world that is bursting with energy, heart and soul.

The Washington Post calls In the Heights "an evening of old-style, innocent pleasure," and Ben Brantley of The New York Times proclaimed it "an exuberant, animated shrine to the importance of family ties and being faithful to where you come from."

The Woodlawn Theatre is San Antonio's historic community theatre, located in the heart of the Deco District at 1920 Fredericksburg Road, just south of Hildebrand. Free parking with security patrol is available.
