The Great Salt Lake Fringe Festival returns for its 12th year, featuring 32 shows across four venues in downtown Salt Lake City: the Alliance Theater Main Hall and Black Box at Trolley Square, the MadKing Fellowship Theater at The Gateway, and the new Lightree Studios at 740 W. 1700 South. The festival showcases a wide variety of performance styles including clown, opera, magic, musical theatre, comedy, drama, dance, and experimental theatre, with many world premieres and original works by Utah playwrights and artists. Co-festival directors Jay Perry and Shianne Gray lead the event, which serves as a launching pad for emerging local and out-of-town performers from Utah, California, Washington, and Arizona. An opening night celebration takes place on July 23 at 6 p.m. at the Alliance Theater, featuring short segments from Fringe artists and free admission.
