PTC to Present OUTSIDE MULLINGAR, 10/30-11/14

Pioneer Theatre Company presents the contemporary Irish romantic comedy Outside Mullingar, October 30 - November 14, 2015.

Outside Mullingar was nominated for a Tony for Best Play during the 2014 season. Playwright John Patrick Shanley won both the Tony and the Pulitzer Prize for his play Doubt (produced at PTC in 2007) and won an Academy Award for his screen play for the film Moonstruck.

AMY BODNAR, TOM O'KEEFE, SYBIL LINES and MAX ROBINSON make up the all-Equity cast.

BODNER and O'KEEFE play Rosemary Muldoon and Anthony Reilly, two Irish farmers and lifelong neighbors whose families find themselves in the middle of a bizarre land dispute. Bodnar's Broadway credits include Lauren Williams in the Trevor Nunn directed production of Oklahoma and the original cast of Ragtime. Other New York credits include Doralee Rhodes in 9 to 5 and Hedy La Rue in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying both at the Walnut Street Theatre. Numerous other credits include roles in plays and musicals Off Broadway, in national tours and regional theatres across the country. Bodner was also a principal ballet dancer in several ballet companies. Bodner last appeared on the PTC stage as Gwendolyn Pigeon in The Odd Couple.

O'Keefe has appeared Off Broadway in Bedlam's Twelfth Night & What You Will at the Dorothy Strelsin Theatre and Tamburlaine The Great at Theatre for a New Audience. Other New York credits include, The Best of Everything (HERE Arts), A Hard Wall at High Speed (APAC), The Libertine, (Kirk Theater). Regionally he has performed in Bedlam's Hamlet & Saint Joan (Olney Theater)andBedlam's Saint Joan (Central Square Theater). His TV credits include CSI, Criminal Minds, E.R., and The Shield. He has also been seen in such films as A New Tomorrow, Avenging Angel, and Crash and Burn. This is his first performance at PTC.

Sybil Lines plays Rosemary's aged mother Aoife (A-fee). Lines was last seen on the PTC stage in last season's I Hate Hamlet. She has performed with the Royal Shakespeare Company for two years. Her Broadway credits include Bedroom Farce with John Lithgow, Waiting in the Wings with Lauren Bacall, Lettice & Lovage with Maggie Smith and Aren't We All with Lynn Redgrave. She was nominated for a Helen Hayes award for her role as Varya in The Cherry Orchard. Lines is also a teacher at Circle in the Square.

Local favorite Max Robinson plays Anthony's father Tony. Robinson was last seen at PTC as Mayor Shinn in The Music Man. Robinson has appeared in nearly one hundred PTC productions including One Man, Two Guvnors, Much Ado About Nothing, Noises Off, My Fair Lady, The Producers, A Midsummer Night's Dream, LES MISERABLES (Thenardier), Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Amadeus andThe Importance of Being Earnest. He played Oscar Wilde in Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde at The Studio Theatre in Washington, D.C., which earned him a Helen Hayes Award nomination.

Guest artist Julie Kramer directs this production. Kramer directed two of Play-by-Play readings at PTC, True Art in 2014 and Slow Food in 2015. Her New York credits include directing her adaptation of Rona Jaffe's bestseller "The Best of Everything," (New York Times and Time Out Critics' Pick, published by Dramatists Play Service). She has directed and developed new work at The Public Theater, Ensemble Studio Theatre, The New York Musical Festival, The New Group, The Directors Company, Juilliard, The Dorset Theatre Festival and The O'Neill Center.

Scenic design is by guest artist Daniel Meeker. Meeker has previously designed the set for PTC's The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. In his home city, Portland, Oregon, credits include: set design for The People's Republic of Portland and Red (Drammy Award),lighting for Twist Your Dickens, and the set and lighting for Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, The Typographer's Dream, LIZZIE (Drammy Award for Best Lighting), The Last Five Years, Bo-Nita, and The Mountaintop.

Costume design is by local designer Brenda Van der Weil. Van der Weil is part of the design faculty for the University of Utah Theatre Department and serves as Head of the Performing Arts Design Program. She designs regularly for that department as well as for Pioneer Theatre and The Alabama Shakespeare Festival. Some designs she has done for PTC include Alabama Story, Rent, Emma,and A Christmas Story.

Lighting design is by guest artist Phil Monat whose previous PTC productions include Alabama Story, The Crucible, Man of La Mancha and Something's Afoot, to name a few. He has designed over five hundred productions in regional theatre throughout the country, including productions at The Old Globe in San Diego, The Seattle Repertory Theatre, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, Milwaukee Rep, The Arizona Theatre Co., The Mark Taper Forum, La Jolla Playhouse, The Huntington Theatre and Alabama Shakespeare Festival.

Sound design is by PTC resident designer JOSHUA C. HIGHT. Hair and makeup design is by PTC resident designer AMANDA FRENCH.
