Summer Theatre Academy 2015 Kicks Off This Month at White Plains Performing Arts Center

White Plains Performing Arts Center Conservatory Theatre presents Summer Theatre Academy, celebrating its 10th amazing Summer! Open to all students in grades 5-12, the Summer Theatre Academy consists of two four-week sessions culminating in Friday and Saturday evening performances. Running from June 29 - July 25 and July 27- August 22, Summer Theatre Academy will perform Zombie Prom and Bye Bye Birdie.

The Summer Theatre Academy is a unique program that combines theatre training with performance opportunities. Students in grades 5-12 train in acting, singing and dancing, participate in special guest workshops and take master classes with Broadway artists. In the afternoon, students rehearse their show with production staff, applying techniques taught in morning workshops towards their performance. Each session ends with Friday and Saturday evening performances on the WPPAC stage that are open to the public.

"In the ten years of our program, we've seen students gain both valuable performance experience and receive real-world benefits," said Ariana Moses, Director of Education at the White Plains Performing Arts Center. "They finish the summer as better performers with higher confidence and improved public speaking skills. Many of our students enter our Senior Conservatory program, which prepares students for acceptance into the top programs in the country, ranging from Julliard, to The Hartt School, to NYU Tisch."

Students and parents will have an opportunity to sample the Summer Theatre Academy and this summer's lineup of shows at the SUMMER THEATRE ACADEMY OPEN HOUSE, Friday, June 12 from 5:00 - 6:30 pm. SUMMER THEATRE ACADEMY 2015 is in residence at the White Plains Performing Arts Center located on the third level of City Center off Mamaroneck Avenue in downtown White Plains. Tuition for each four week session is $1,250. Discounts are available when registering for both sessions.
