Mighty Wurlitzer Restoration will open at the Providence Performing Arts Center on October 4, 2024, funded partially by a Save America’s Treasures grant. This initiative aims to restore the historic Mighty Wurlitzer organ, a unique 5-manual, 21-Rank pipe organ built in 1927 and acquired by the theater in 1982. The project is a tribute to the organ’s significance in musical history and its long-standing role in community concerts, which began with Lincoln W.N. Pratt as the House Organist. Currently, Peter Edwin Krasinski serves as the House Organist, continuing the legacy of free concerts for the public.
