The Hatchery Festival of New Work at The Judy

Many Hats Collaboration presents The Hatchery: A new works development festival centering music and movement-driven theater.

Join a full day of events on Sunday August 24th featuring PAY WHAT YOU CAN performances of two new theatrical works in progress. PWYC tickets range from $0-$50.

2:00 p.m. – Everybody’s Eyes Are on the First by Teague Shattuck and Naama Friedman
Tokenization is the next big sensation, and there’s nothing trendier than a transgender. Struggling actor Rafi thinks he’s about to show the world what success looks like as the first and only transgender infomercial host, but not everyone has his best interest at heart in this razor-sharp musical satire by Teague Shattuck and Naama Friedman. 3:30 p.m. – All Bodies Community Dance Class with Andrea Parson and Leiana Petlewski
Discover the fundamentals of contact improv for regular people of all body types.

4:30 p.m. – Double Dutch Jump Rope Demonstration with The Tsunami Skippers (Seaside, OR) and an appearance by members of the 40+ Double Dutch Club (Portland Sub)

5:30 p.m. – Complimentary Happy Hour with bites from Po’Shines Cafe De La Soul and sips from Augustina Cellars

7:00 p.m. – Rules of the Rope by Josie Seid
Dexterity, stamina, rhythm, speed. As sisters Telma and Sugar reflect on their lifelong rivalry following their beloved mother’s death, they begin to realize the rules of the rope are a lot like the unwritten rules for life. Playwright Josie Seid’s exploration of the way threads weave through generations is skillfully tied together with joyful Double Dutch jump-rope-inspired movement and original music. (Please reserve a Pay What You Can ticket for this performance)
