Black Nativity by Langston Hughes at Brunish Theatre

Black Nativity is a soul-stirring gospel song play featuring Christmas carols sung in gospel style, brand-new songs for the show, dance performances, and storytelling.  

Black Nativity by Langston Hughes premiered Off-Broadway on December 11, 1961, making it one of the first plays staged there by an African American. Langston Hughes (1901-1967) was a poet, playwright, social activist, novelist, and columnist.
