Third Rail Repertory Theatre Presents THE LYING KIND, through 12/13
The Lying Kind, by Anthony Neilson is playing now through December 13 at the World Trade Center Theater in Portland.
In The Lying Kind, Anthony Neilson takes classic British farce and twists it, hard. It's Christmas Eve in London, and two hapless policemen must deliver tragic news to an elderly couple. When they try to hide the truth, the consequences are immediate, dire, and side-splitting.
The Lying Kind is directed by Scott Yarbrough and features a cast of Damon Kupper, Isaac Lamb, Jacklyn Maddux, Richard Matthews, Michael O'Connell, Amy Palomino, and John Steinkamp.
Scott Yarbrough is a Founding Member and the Artistic Director of Third Rail. His work as a director with Third Rail has been recognized four times by Portland's Drammy Committee. He received degrees in Theatre from Oklahoma Baptist University (BA), Louisiana State University (MA), and Ohio University (MFA).
Single tickets are $22-$29, Students $15 (plus ticketing fees), and can be purchased at www.thirdrailrep.org.
The Lying Kind runs Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm, Sundays at 2:00pm, at the World Trade Center Theater, located at 121 SW Salmon Street in Portland.
Third Rail Repertory Theatre was born in 2003 of a desire to deliver artistic excellence to Portland audiences on a consistent basis. Like The Group Theatre of the 1930s and Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre, Third Rail's permanent ensemble shares an esthetic, a vocabulary, and an understanding of each other's working styles. This means that great risks can be taken quickly, thus great dramatic (and comic) potential can be tapped. The result for theatergoers is productions that are surprising, thought-provoking, and above all, consistently entertaining.
