Oregon Children's Theatre presents JUNIE B. JONES: THE MUSICAL -- the popular book series by Barbara Park hits the stage in a colorful, funny, and fast-paced musical, featuring book & lyrics by Marcy Heisler and music by Zina Goldrich. Directed by Isaac Lamb, the production runs tonight, October 24-November 22, 2015.

"1st grade is hard! Last year I had two best friends. This year the lunch lady is my best friend. Last year I was cute. This year I need glasses." It's Junie B.'s first day of first grade and a lot of things have changed for her. Throw in a friendly cafeteria lady, a kickball tournament, new friends -- and school has never been more exciting. Will our feisty first grader survive the new school year? Follow Junie B.'s adventures as she writes it all down in her "Top-Secret Personal Beeswax Journal."

JUNIE B. JONES: THE MUSICAL is based on the New York Times bestselling book series by Barbara Park (winner of seven Children's Choice Awards and four Parents' Choice Awards).

Audience members are invited to come early to performances and participate in fun pre-show craft activities by Art a la Carte. They are also welcome to stay after the show to meet the cast and get their playbills autographed!

JUNIE B. JONES: THE MUSICAL has book and lyrics by Marcy Heisler and music by Zina Goldrich. It is adapted from the Junie B. Jones series of books by Barbara Park.

The cast features Kai Tomizawa as Junie B. Jones, Clayton Lukens as Herb, Grace Proschold as Lucille, Skyler Derthick as Chenille, Kaylee Bair as Grace, Joe Theissen as Dad and others, Liz Ghiz as Mother, Lauren Burton as Bobbie Jean, and David Van Dyke as Lennie.

The creative team includes: Isaac Lamb (Director), Mont Chris Hubbard (Musical Director), Lawrence Larson (Scenic Designer), Ashton Hull (Costume Designer), Phil McBeth (Lighting Designer), Amy Beth Frankel (Choreographer), Scott Thorson (Sound Designer), Deborah Dahling (Props Master).

JUNIE B. JONES plays Saturdays at 2:00 & 5:00pm and Sundays at 11:00am and 2:00pm [no 11:00am shows on 11/8 or 11/15] at the Newmark Theatre, 1111 SW Broadway. Sundays, October 25 and November 22: Grandparent Day. Join us for special senior (age 62+) ticket prices on the first and last Sunday of each show. Tickets are only $11 - $21.

Saturday, October 31, 2:00 pm: Interpreted performance in American Sign Language

JUNIE B. JONES is a Ticket to Read title. Ticket to Read is a new program linking literacy to live theater by providing students from low-income schools with a free theater ticket and a companion book to take home and keep. Founded in 1988, Oregon Children's Theatre has served well over two million children, teachers, and families. OCT is Oregon's largest non-profit professional children's theater company and a resident company of Portland'5 Centers for the Arts. Performances are held weekdays for school audiences and on weekends for family audiences. OCT serves more than 120,000 children of all ages each year. OCT offers numerous school services including study guides, teacher professional development opportunities, in-school workshops, and an extensive outreach program. In partnership with Kaiser Permanente, the Educational Theatre Program provides free touring productions that promote healthy living. OCT's year round Acting Academy offers theater classes for children ages 3-18 and Young Professionals, a mentoring program for teens.
