Mad Horse Theatre Company will close its 26th season with Annie Baker's comedy Circle Mirror Transformation, winner of the 2010 Obie Award for Best New American Play. Circle Mirror Transformation runs May 3 - 20 at Lucid Stage, Portland.

Mad Horse Theatre Company Member David Currier directs this ensemble cast of two men and three women consisting of Mad Horse Company Members Brent Askari, Maureen Butler and Janice Gardner, and Guest Artists Olwyn Moxhay and Payne Ratner.

The design team includes Guest Artist Christopher Price (set design), Mad Horse Artistic Director Christine Louise Marshall (costumes), Company Member Nathan Speckman (sound design), and Guest Artist Johnny Speckman (lighting).

According to Currier, “It’s fascinating putting a play like this together. The idea of people coming together for 6 weeks or so to work closely and emotionally together is the experiment of the play. Our company members are familiar with each other, but haven’t necessarily worked together on stage, and our guest artists are so brave coming into this room full of people night after night to explore these feelings on and off the stage. And, love them or hate them, theater games really do break the ice. Watching those barriers come down is exhilarating and inspiring.”

Lucid Stage is the city's newest theater, at 29 Baxter Boulevard in Portland. This unique, dynamic performance space features flexible seating for up to 100. Mad Horse proudly returns for their second season as Lucid Stage’s Theatre Company in Residence.

Show times are: Thursdays at 7:30pm; Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm; Sunday Matinees at 2pm. May 3 & 4 are Pay-What-You-Like Previews. There will be a Talk Back with the cast and director immediately following the Sunday, May 13, matinee.

Tickets are $22 for adults and $20 for students and seniors. Mad Horse also offers Pay-What-You-Can performances each Thursday during the run. Call 899-3993, or order tickets online at www.lucidstage.com.
