BLACKBIRD, DR. JEKYLL & MR. HYDE Set For City Theatre 09/10 Lineup

City Theatre announces the line-up of plays for its 09/10 season, as well as two all-new special presentations. The eight plays run the theatrical gamut from hilarious comedy to taut thriller, and include two world premieres, an award-winning international hit, and the return of the crowd-pleasing 'Sister.'

The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, in collaboration with The City of Pittsburgh, The University of Pittsburgh, The Carnegie Library, and The Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy, is proud to present the 23rd annual Pittsburgh International Children's Festival on Tuesday, May 13, through Sunday, May 17, 2009. The Children's Festival takes place in various venues throughout the city's university district of Oakland, including Schenley Plaza. The Festival is currently one of only four international theater festivals for children in the United States.

The Bill Nunn Theatre Outreach Project and Point Park University's Conservatory of Performing Arts are partnering for the second year to take theatre into local schools. Nunn is working with a cast of six Conservatory students to develop a play about choices. John Amplas, an associate professor in the Conservatory, is producing the project.

Originally making his mark in the county music world and then slipping into the Latin and jazz arenas via rock & roll, Raul Malo has proven to be an ever-expanding musical talent. As front man for The Mavericks from 1989 - 2001, Malo picked up a 1996 Grammy award and multiple Country Music Association awards. He released his first solo album, Today, in 2001.
