An Evening of Hope at Actors PLAYground

Two Shows; One Night of Hope

“Where there’s hope, there’s life” – Anne Frank

Dear Anne, From Nina by Claudia Haas

In February 1940, a young girl in Iowa pulled the name of a pen pal out of a hat. That name was Anne Frank. There was a brief correspondence before the Nazis invaded The Netherlands. The play is a coming-of-age reflection of that time from 1940-1942. While Nina and Jeannie strive to be “citizens of the world” in their tiny town of Danville, Anne and Margot try to live their lives in a world that doesn’t want them

Remembering Margot by Claudia Haas

In The Diary of Anne Frank, readers met Margot Frank through her sister’s eyes, but Margot takes center stage in this heartfelt historical drama based on newly discovered information about her life. Who is Margot Frank? If you ask her friends on the rowing team, she is a fierce competitor. Her fun-loving younger sister Anne finds her confusingly quiet and studious, but thinks it’s pretty thrilling that she has a boyfriend. To the Nazis overtaking the city of Amsterdam, she is Jewish and that’s all that matters. Margot herself is still figuring out who she is, but there’s one thing she knows: she appointed herself “Protector of Her Sister” when Anne was born, and she is determined to remain so until the very end, even if it costs her own life.
