Step back in time to when mambo took our country by storm. Making its Penn Live Arts debut, the Grammy®-nominated Orquesta Akokán channels the fiery Cuban mambo revolution of the 1940s and 50s while pushing the grooves to new heights. Bursting with an innate sense of soul and songcraft that’s timeless and immaculate, enjoy original songs by “some of the island’s greatest instrumentalists,” (The New York Times) including members of Cuba’s legendary Irakere and Los Van Van. This blazing big band will definitely have you dancing!
