Trumpeter and composer Ambrose Akinmusire is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music and winner of both the 2007 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition and the Carmine Caruso International Jazz Trumpet Solo Competition. His albums including Origami Harvest, named Best Jazz of 2018 by The New York Times, and the GRAMMY-nominated On the Tender Spot of Every Calloused Moment have established him as one of the most original artists of his generation. He received a Grammy nomination in 2026 for Honey from a Winter Stone in the category Best Alternative Jazz Album.
