Ogunquit Playhouse concludes its 2021 season with the perfect spooky October production: Young Frankenstein, starring John Bolton (Broadway's Anastasia) as the titular Frederick Frankenstein and featuring Ogunquit favorite Sally Struthers (Thoroughly Modern Millie) as Frau Blücher.

Today in 1989, City of Angels opened at the Virginia Theatre (now the August Wilson Theatre), where it ran for 879 performances. City of Angels is a musical comedy with music by Cy Coleman, lyrics by David Zippel, and book by Larry Gelbart. The musical weaves together two plots, the 'real' world of a writer trying to turn his book into a screenplay, and the 'reel' world of the fictional film. The musical is an homage to the film noir genre of motion pictures that rose to prominence in the 1940s. It was directed by Michael Blakemore with sets designed by Robin Wagner and costumes by Florence Klotz.

The new dance musical spectacle Trip of Love, inspired by the biggest hit songs of the 1960s, is playing at Stage 42, formerly The Little Shubert Theater (422 West 42nd St). American pop culture is still pulsing with the psychedelic energy of the Sixties, an era of expression and revolution around the world. The music told the story then and it will again this fall as Trip of Love brings the decade to life with over 25 of the biggest hits of the '60s, including 'Blowin' In The Wind,' 'Born To Be Wild,' 'California Dreamin',' 'I Saw Her Standing There,' 'These Boots Are Made For Walkin',' 'White Rabbit,' 'You Don't Own Me' and many more.

It's the 20th anniversary of Broadway's tender and funny, smart and sexy Victor/ Victoria and the Ogunquit Playhouse is celebrating by mounting a full-scale glamorous production of the musical comedy, June 24 to July 18, complete with the original Broadway and touring sets designed by Robin Wagner and costumes by Willa Kim.  Check out a first look at highlights below!

LEAP OF FAITH plays its final performance today, May 13, at Broadway's St. James Theatre (246 West 44th Street) after the matinee performance. Broadway's LEAP OF FAITH opened on Thursday April 26 and will have played 24 previews and 20 regular performances. Actor and performer Israel Cortez is becoming quite the YouTube sensation thanks in part to his solo remix interpretation of the powerhouse song 'It's All Over' from the film version of the musical 'Dreamgirls'. Cortez, a La Palma, California, resident, plays all the parts in the song, which is sung by Jamie Foxx, Keith Robinson, Beyonce, Anika Noni Rose and Sharon Leal as they confront Jennifer Hudson's 'Effie'.

Cincinnati's Procter and Gamble Hall- Aronoff Center for the Arts will present DREAMGIRLS from June 8 through June 20, 2010.
