As the theatre community mourns the loss of the legendary producer and director Harold Prince, we're looking back at the opening night of Manhattan Theatre Club's Broadway production of Prince of Broadway, which celebrated his career spanning seven decades. Rehearsals are underway for the Broadway premiere of Prince of Broadway, a musical celebration that highlights the extraordinary six-decade career of director and producer Harold Prince. Prince of Broadway will start previews Thursday, August 3, 2017 for a Thursday, August 24, 2017 opening night at MTC's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre (261 West 47th Street).

This week, the longest-running show in Broadway history, the Cameron Mackintosh and The Really Useful Group production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, directed by Harold Prince, will once again make theater history, reaching a phenomenal 29 Years.

Japan can't get enough of PRINCE OF BROADWAY (see video below), and that's too bad, because there are just five performances left at Osaka's Umeda Arts Theatre. On opening night, after a solid ten minutes of applause after the final curtain, Prince and the rest of the creative team went out one more time. Despite the show's success overseas, an official announcement has not yet been made regrading a run on Broadway... but that hasn't kept us from wondering. So what's next for PRINCE? We're keeping our appendages crossed for an announcement soon and we'll keep you posted with updates!
