A new trailer for the movie musical adaptation of The Color Purple has been released. Watch Fantasia Barrino, Danielle Brooks, Taraji P. Henson, and the star-studded cast in the new video now! The film is produced by produced by Oprah Winfrey, Steven Spielberg, and more.

Helmed by first-time feature writer-director Felipe Cisneros, the film will release TVOD on March 23rd by Gravitas Ventures, a Red Arrow Studios company.

John Prine's new acoustic video for his song “Paradise,” featuring special guest Kelsey Waldon, premiered yesterday at Sounds Like Nashville. The song was recorded as part of the pair's new collaborative 7-inch vinyl, The Kentucky Sessions, which is included with each purchase of Waldon's new album White Noise/White Lines—out October 4 via Prine's independent label Oh Boy Records. 

John Prine won two awards at last night's Americana Music Association Honors & Awards: Album of the Year (The Tree of Forgiveness) and Song of the Year (“Summer's End” written by Prine and Pat McLaughlin). The reigning 2017 and 2018 Americana Artist of the Year, Prine also performed “Angel From Montgomery” with Bonnie Raitt during last night's ceremony. 

 OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network announced today that its anticipated new drama series “David Makes Man” from Academy Award winner Tarell Alvin McCraney (“Moonlight”) and Warner Horizon Scripted Television will premiere on Wednesday, August 14 at 10 p.m. ETPT following the network's critically acclaimed drama “Queen Sugar” (Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ETPT).  The series premiere will be presented by Lexus with limited commercial interruption.
