STAGE TUBE: On This Day for 4/12/15- BELLS ARE RINGING
by Nicole Rosky - 04/12/2015 Today in 2001, the first Broadway revival of Bells Are Ringing opened at the Plymouth Theatre (now the Gerald Shoenfeld Theatre), where it ran for 68 performances. Bells Are Ringing is a musical with a book and lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green and music by Jule Styne. The story revolves around Ella, who works at an answering service and the characters that she meets there. The original Broadway production, directed by Jerome Robbins and choreographed by Robbins and Bob Fosse, opened on November 29, 1956 at the Shubert Theatre, where it ran for slightly more than two years, and starred Judy Holliday as Ella and Sydney Chaplin as Jeff Moss.

Featuring direction by Bartlett Sher, it will begin previews Thursday, March 12 and open on Thursday, April 16 at the Vivian Beaumont Theater (150 West 65 Street). by Nicole Rosky - 02/14/2015 Today in 1980, the first Broadway revival of WEST SIDE STORY opened at the Minskoff Theatre, where it ran for 333 performances. West Side Story is an American musical with a book by Arthur Laurents, music by Leonard Bernstein, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and conception and choreography by Jerome Robbins. It was inspired by William Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet. Set in New York City in the mid-1950s, the musical explores the rivalry between the Jets and the Sharks, two teenage street gangs of different ethnic backgrounds. Bernstein's score for the musical has become extremely popular; it includes 'Something's Coming', 'Maria', 'America', 'Somewhere', 'Tonight', 'Jet Song', 'I Feel Pretty', 'A Boy Like That', 'One Hand, One Heart', 'Gee, Officer Krupke' and 'Cool'.

by Christina Mancuso - 01/12/2015 New York City Ballet will present the third installation of its acclaimed Art Series initiative during the Company's 2015 Winter Season. Launched in 2013, the New York City Ballet Art Series features annual collaborations between NYCB and contemporary visual artists who create original works inspired by NYCB for exhibition at the Company's home, the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center. For the 2015 Art Series, NYCB has commissioned an installation from Dustin Yellin, the Brooklynbased artist and founder of Red Hook's Pioneer Works. Yellin's body of work, which includes paintings, drawings, installation, performance and sculpture, has been exhibited in numerous museums and galleries in New York, as well as internationally.

Elf will be directed by Eric Ankrim and choreographed by Josh Rhodes. Elf will run eight times a week at Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn, New Jersey, from November 26, 2014, through January 4, 2015.
