To life! The Broadway revival of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF began performances just last week, with an official opening slated for Sunday, December 20 at The Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway). FIDDLER ON THE ROOF is directed by Tony Award winner Bartlett Sher, who most recently helmed the 2015 Tony Award-winning Broadway revival of The King and I. Sher has directed Burstein on Broadway in the revivals of Golden Boy and South Pacific, as well as in Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown. It is choreographed by Hofesh Shechter, inspired by the original choreography of Jerome Robbins, and the music director is Ted Sperling (The King and I, South Pacific). In a new interview with USA Today, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF choregrapher Hofesh Shechter discusses adding modern moves to the the upcoming Broadway revival of the classic musical.

The choreographer for the new Broadway production is an the Israeli-born star of the U.K.'s contemporary dance scene.

It's just a week before previews begin for the much-anticipated revival of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, and the cast is ready to go. BroadwayWorld's Randy Rainbow just checked in with Tevye's three oldest daughters (played by Alexandra Silber, Samantha Massell and Melanie Moore) and they gave him the scoop on what to expect from Bartlett Sher's latest project. On the heels of being named the first female African-American principal dancer for the American Ballet Theatre, Misty Copeland joined the cast of Broadway's ON THE TOWN on Tuesday, Augst 25th in the role of 'Ivy'. Copeland will be performing through September 6. The Huffington Post just unveiled a behind-the-scenes profile of her journey from rehearsals to opening night on Broadway, featuring interviews with Misty and her co-star Tony Yazbeck. Beginning last night, August 25, American Ballet Theatre principal dancer Misty Copeland made her Broadway debut as 'Ivy Smith' in the Tony Award nominated revival of On The Town, continuing in the role through the end of the musical's run on September 6. 

In honor of Gene Kelly's 103rd Birthday, ON THE TOWN cast members Eloise Kropp and Cory Lingner have recreated the song and dance number 'Main Street' from the film version of ON THE TOWN. Check out the performance below!
