Today we rewind to 2009, when A Little Night Music returned to Broadway for the first Time. The revival, which played at the Walter Kerr Theatre for 425 performances, starred Angela Lansbury, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Erin Davie, Hunter Ryan Herdlicka, and Aaron Lazar. With music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by Hugh Wheeler, the musical is inspired by the Ingmar Bergman film Smiles of a Summer Night, it involves the romantic lives of several couples. 

The touring production (Philippines, Singapore) of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, starring Tony winner Lea Salonga and Jett Pangan, will launch in Manila October 11th, 2019. It is directed and choreographed by Peter Rothstein, who helmed the theatre's critically acclaimed 2018 production of Ragtime. Featuring music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, a book by Hugh Wheeler and from an adaptation by Christopher Bond, this musical masterwork and global phenomenon previews May 1 - 3, opens May 4 and runs through June 1.

Forty years ago, the legendary Stephen Sondheim musical 'Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street' attended the tale for the first time on Broadway starring Len Cariou and Angela Lansbury. In honor of the occasion, we're throwing it back to the opening night of show's 2005 Broadway revival starring Michael Cerveris and Patti LuPone. Kansas City Repertory Theatre's Artistic Director, Eric Rosen, today announced the cast for SWEENEY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET which closes the 2017/2018 mainstage season at KCRep. SWEENEY TODD runs March 23 - April 15 at the Spencer Theatre on the UMKC campus and will be directed by Rosen.

On this day in 1979, the murderous barber, Sweeney Todd slashed his way into Broadway's Uris Theater (now the Gershwin).

Trevor Nunn's production of A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC debuted to critical acclaim at London's Menier Chocolate Factory in November 2008 and subsequently transferred to the West End where it played a successful limited engagement through July 25, 2009 at the Garrick Theatre.

Signature Theatre has just announced that A Little Night Music will play for an added ninth week - an addition of eight performances between October 10 and October 15. They also released a new trailer with footage from the show - check it out below!

Leonard Bernstein was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts. He took piano lessons as a boy and attended the Garrison and Boston Latin Schools. At Harvard University, he studied with Walter Piston, Edward Burlingame-Hill, and A. Tillman Merritt, among others. Before graduating in 1939, he made an unofficial conducting debut with his own incidental music to 'The Birds,' and directed and performed in Marc Blitzstein's 'The Cradle Will Rock.' Then at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, he studied piano with Isabella Vengerova, conducting with Fritz Reiner, and orchestration with Randall Thompson. 

Signature Theatre will present A Little Night Music, directed by Signature Theatre Artistic Director Eric Schaeffer (Broadway's Follies, Gigi). Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's Tony Award-winning musical, set in 1900 Sweden, revolves around a tangled web of love affairs.
