Laura Osnes, Christian Borle, Hugh Panaro, Taylor Richardson, John Bolton, Tituss Burgess, Rachel Bay Jones and Julia Murney all took part in Best in Shows, a star-studded cabaret evening to benefit the Humane Society of New York, last night at New World Stages. Hosted and with Music Direction by Seth Rudetsky, Best in Shows was presented by Dorothy and Bill Berloni. The Broadway premier production of Lanie Robertson's Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill is on the search for a small dog to perform with five-time Tony Award-winner Audra McDonald as the show has a dog written into it. The producers of the show have been looking for submissions for a small dog to be cast in the show and actual callbacks were held yesterday, March 11th at the Circle in the Square Theatre (1633 Broadway). Audra McDonald and Broadway animal trainer Bill Berloni were on hand to judge selected finalists and BroadwayWorld's Richard Ridge was there to chat with the whole gang. Yesterday, July 14, Bernadette Peters and Mary Tyler Moore hosted the 14th annual BROADWAY BARKS!, a star-studded dog and cat adoption event benefiting New York City animal shelters and adoption agencies. BroadwayWorld was there and brings you full video coverage of the event, including the opening performance by ONE MAN, TWO GUVNOR's band The Craze, plus interviews with the hostesses, as well as Julie Halston, Newsies' Jeremy Jordan, The Book of Mormon's Andrew Rannells, The Lyons' Dick Latessa (CQ) and many of the rescue groups in attendance, plus footage of Linda Lavin, Angela Lansbury and more presenting the animals available for adoption. The sun came out in Thousand Oaks, CA last week as Cabrillo Music Theatre proudly opened its all new production of the hit musical, Annie. ANNIE also marks the return of Sally Struthers as Miss Hannigan to the Cabrillo stage, having won a Los Angeles Stage Alliance Ovation Award for her performance as the Fairy Godmother in Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella last season. Annie opened Friday, October 14th and continues through Sunday, October 23rd, at the 1,800-seat Kavli Theatre at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, located at 2100 Thousand Oaks Boulevard in Thousand Oaks. Broadway World TV's Los Angeles Correspondent/Producer Michael Sterling and Associate Producer Jerry Evans of JLE Media Group Inc., spent a day with Ms. Struthers and the Annie company to talk about the world's beloved musical.
