BIO

Oliver Platt appeared in Married to the Mob and later had film roles in Working Girl (1988), Flatliners (1990), Beethoven (1992), The Three Musketeers (1993), A Time to Kill (1996), Executive Decision (1996), Bulworth (1998) and The Impostors (1998). In 1999, he appeared in Lake Placid.


Platt made his television leading-role debut in Deadline (2000), playing newspaper columnist Wallace Benton. He later guest starred as Oliver Babish on The West Wing, earning an Emmy nomination for the role. From 2004 to 2006, he starred as Russell Tupper on Huff, earning two Emmy nominations and a Golden Globe nomination.

In 2005, Platt appeared in The Ice Harvest and Casanova, winning the New York Film Critics Online Award for Best Supporting Actor for Casanova. He made his Broadway debut in Shining City in 2006, earning a Tony Award nomination for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Play. In 2007, he portrayed George Steinbrenner in the miniseries The Bronx Is Burning and appeared in the pilot for The Thick of It. In 2009, he starred as Nathan Detroit in the Broadway revival of Guys and Dolls.

Platt's later film credits include 2012 (2009), X-Men: First Class (2011), The Oranges (2012), Chinese Zodiac (2012), Dorothy of Oz (2013), in which he voiced Wiser the Owl, and The 9th Life of Louis Drax (2016).
