The third annual Sheen Center Theater Festival takes place June 20 - 23 at The Sheen Center for Thought & Culture (18 Bleecker Street, at the corner of Elizabeth Street, NYC). Celebrating the voices of established Catholicplaywrights in staged reading presentations, this year's full-length plays feature works by playwright Caridad Svich(OBIE Award Winner), Nathan Yungerberg (Cherry Lane mentee under Stephen Adley Guirgus), William Baer (Guggenheim Fellowship recipient), and Erik Ehn (Whiting Award winner).
LUMBERYARD Center for Film and Performing Arts's summer 2019 season will bring some of New York City's most exciting artists to the organization's state-of-the-art Hudson Valley facility, built just 101 miles from Manhattan to provide a crucial lifeline for the performing arts ecosystem. New American work and the institutions built to present it in NYC are more technologically advanced than ever before; however, there is a critical gap in the system, as artists can no longer transition from studio to theater with only a few days of technical rehearsal, and NYC presenters can't afford to close their doors for extended technical rehearsals.

A riff on Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, THE HOLE explores the relationship and personal struggles of two inmates in solitary confinement. We see them grapple with love, and the choice to either choose life and grow up, or succumb to the pressures of THE HOLE.

"Part of my work has been thinking of how to make a solo show good," he says, smiling lightly. "I know a lot of poets who create solo shows and it's literally just a string of their poems connected. It's not theatricalized, it's just spoken word for a longer, extended amount of time. That's not what I wanted to do. I wanted to create an actual play first."
