Broadway Advocacy Coalition Announces Second Quarterly Gathering Featuring Stephanie Hsu, Shaina Taub, and More

The Broadway Advocacy Coalition (BAC) announces its second quarterly Community Gathering, to be held on Monday, September 9th, 2019 at 7:00pm in the lobby of the Pershing Square Signature Center.

This quarterly event brings together artists, lawyers, students and activists for an evening of dialogue, performances and panel discussions centered around arts and advocacy. Each Community Gathering provides like-minded audience members an opportunity to engage and participate in BAC's ongoing efforts towards education equality, ending mass incarceration and immigration reform.

The focus of this event is Impact: how can artists and advocates ensure the work they are doing is having its intended impact on the communities and issues they care about and how can both groups think more critically about using the arts to make a difference. The upcoming evening will feature a conversation with Emmy-nominated composer Shaina Taub (The Public's Twelfth Night, The Devil Wears Prada); Drama Desk nominee Stephanie Hsu (Be More Chill, SpongeBob SquarePants), Pastor Isaac Scott, a Soros Fellow and the Arts & Communication Coordinator at the Center for Justice; and Alejo Rodriguez, the Mentor and Alumni Coordinator of John Jay College Prisoner Reentry Institute. The evening will also feature performances by Felicia Boswell (Motown the Musical, Shuffle Along) and Ahmad Simmons (Hadestown, Carousel).

The event will be hosted and moderated by BAC President Britton Smith (Be More Chill, Shuffle Along), Artistic Director Ben Wexler (Jonathan Larson Award Winner) and Creative Director Zhailon Levingston (The Exonerated).

The event is free. Seats can be reserved at the link below: www.eventbrite.com/e/bac-community-gathering-september-2019-tickets-70059155821

The Pershing Square Signature Center is located at 480 West 42nd Street, between 9th and 10th Avenue.
