RUST ON BONE Industry Reading Announced for NYC

Rust on Bone by Bianca Sams (Training Day, Simply Bess) will receive an industry reading directed by Zhailon Levingston (Primer for a Failed Superpower) on Monday, January 29, at 7:30pm at Pearl Studios (500 8th Ave), Penthouse 1. This is the inaugural presentation of Front Porch Readings, a once-monthly series whose mission is to celebrate writers of diverse stories and worldviews while directly connecting playwrights and directors to publishers and producers. Cast members will be announced shortly.

The Obie Award-winning Ice Factory Festival (Artistic Director Robert Lyons) has announced hosts and guest artists for "Fridays on Ice," its late-night performance salon that includes a diverse and distinctive lineup of writer/performers creating work not usually seen in downtown theatre spaces, but more typically found performing in nightclubs, bars, and private apartments.

On a rainy January 19, at 5:30 p.m. on the steps in front of Actors Theatre of Louisville, members of the Louisville theatre community took part in launching a nation-wide initiative entitled The Ghost Light Project. Besides Actors Theatre, there were representatives from other local companies such as Kentucky Shakespeare, Looking for Lilith, The Liminal Playhouse, Theatre [502], the University of Louisville's African American Theatre Program, among others.

THE GHOSTLIGHT PROJECT (previously announced as 'The Sanctuary Project') will bring the theatre community together from coast to coast on January 19, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. in each time zone to light a light and make a pledge. Inspired by the theatrical tradition of keeping a 'ghost light' on in a darkened theater, we create light for the challenging times ahead.

Stages Across the Country Will Take Part in THE SANCTUARY PROJECT

On January 19, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. in each time zone across the country, members of the theater community - from Broadway to regional theaters to high schools and colleges and community theaters - will come together to launch The Sanctuary Project.
