This coming Monday, July 15, National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (NYTF) will present its annual Summer Benefit Concert, presenting Tony- and Academy Award-winning actor Joel Grey, who directed NYTF's Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish, with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding work in film, television, and theatre. The event will feature appearances by the cast and orchestra of the critically acclaimed Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish, currently running at Stage 42.

The National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene and Capital One City Parks Foundation's SummerStage presented The New York Cantors, a concert by three young Cantorial superstars on June 12 to a standing-room-only audience. The Cantors lead three vibrant congregations in the New York area—Azi Schwartz at Park Avenue Synagogue, Yaakov (Yanky) Lemmer at Lincoln Square Synagogue and Netanel Hershtik at the Hamptons Synagogue.

Following the break-out success of Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish, The National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (NYTF) will present When Blood Ran Red, a new, award-winning work that chronicles the darkest era in the Soviet Union, when former wartime heroes of the Jewish Anti-Fascist Committee were persecuted as enemies of the state for daring to report on the truth of the Holocaust in the German-occupied East. On the heels of its spectacular, sold-out run of the Yiddish presentation of Fiddler on The Roof, National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (NYTF) has announced the 2019-2020 season. For the first time ever, NYTF will present a season with four mainstage productions with a flexible season subscription. The productions, concerts and readings were curated to accompany the incoming exhibit Auschwitz: Not long ago. Not far away on display at the Museum of Jewish Heritage beginning on May 8, 2019.

The National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (NYTF) and Capitol One City Parks Foundation's SummerStage will present The New York Cantors, a concert by three young Cantorial superstars. Their concert aired on PBS and has been seen by millions of viewers on over 150 channels. The Cantors lead three vibrant congregations in the New York area-Azi Schwartz at Park Avenue Synagogue, Yaakov (Yanky) Lemmer at Lincoln Square Synagogue and Netanel Hershtik at the Hamptons Synagogue. The free concert will take place on Wednesday, June 12, at SummerStage in Central Park, E 72nd Street near 5th Ave. Admission is free, seating is on a first-come, first served basis. Doors open at 6 pm. The concert begins at 7 pm.

The word 'meshugge' seemed to really pop out for the audience, receiving a big laugh when uttered by Tevye the night this reviewer thoroughly enjoyed the beautifully acted and sung National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene's production of Jerry Bock, Sheldon Harnick and Joseph Stein's classic 1964 musical based on the stories of Sholem Aleichem, Fiddler on the Roof.
