Something great is coming! As BroadwayWorld previously reported, the classic Leonard Bernstein musical West Side Story is making its return to Broadway this winter directed by Ivo van Hove, and the revival has found its cast (including 23 Broadway debuts!) Beyonce will be releasing a new album titled, 'The Lion King: The Gift' which will feature an array of songs inspired by the film, performed by African artists.

 Disney has released a photo of the cast "The Lion King" together for the first time. Disney has shared images from "The Lion King" featuring voice talent with their characters. Images include Donald Glover with Simba; Beyonce Knowles-Carter with Nala; John Oliver, Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner with Zazu, Pumbaa and Timon; Chiwetel Ejiofor with Scar; Alfre Woodard with Sarabi; Eric Andre, Florence Kasumba and Keegan-Michael Key with hyenas Azizi, Shenzi and Kamari; and Shahadi Wright Joseph and JD McCrary with Young Nala and Young Simba. 

THE SPITFIRE GRILL begins its previews July 10, 2019 at the Garry Marshall Theatre under the direction of its artistic director Dimitri Toscas. This musical (by James Valcq and Fred Alley) takes place in the rural town of Gilead, Wisconsin during a simpler era. I had the opportunity to interview a stunning vocalist I have seen on various Los Angeles stages, Ashley Argota, who will be imbuing her powerful vocals to the role of Shelby Thorpe, a pivotal part of the Gilead community.

Hulu's highly anticipated upcoming (8-episode) limited series, Little Fires Everywhere, announces additional series regulars: Jade Pettyjohn, Jordan Elsass, Gavin Lewis, Megan Stott and Lexi Underwood. This teen cast joins previously announced series regulars and executive producers, Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington, as well as Rosemarie DeWitt.

Casting has been announced for the premiere engagement of Disney's THE LION KING in West Palm Beach.  THE LION KING will leap onto The Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts' Bernard and Chris Marden stage on Wednesday, April 24 for a 2-week engagement through Sunday, May 5.

The Lion King is King of the Musical Jungle

Casting has been announced for the premiere engagement of Disney's THE LION KING at The Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall. THE LION KING will leap onto the Van Wezel stage on Thursday, March 14 for a 3-week engagement through Sunday, March 31.

THE LION KING opened at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center in Appleton on February 7 and will continue to play through February 24. Whether this is your first time seeing it or your 50th, it is an elaborate, engaging, immersive experience audiences are unlikely to forget.

One of the most highly anticipated films of 2019 is Disney's live action adaptation of their hit film turned musical, 'The Lion King.' Jon Favreau is directing a new take on Disney's 1994 classic animated film, featuring pioneering filmmaking techniques.

Details are emerging about the upcoming Lion King live-action film remake. Now, Skyler Shuler of The DisInsider is reporting that Scar's big number, Be Prepared, will be featured in the film.

Every kid with a performer's heart deserves to experience three things in their childhood: access to an incredible arts program, a passionate mentor, and a really great Andrew Lloyd Webber musical. For me, that was the Springfield (Missouri) Little Theatre, Beth D., and The Phantom of the Opera. I wish for all of today's youth to find the arts and an inspiring mentor. As for Webber for this generation, there is School of Rock The Musical, which actually touches on all of the above. The tour is visiting the National Theatre in Washington, DC this month and packs the biggest dreams and highest professionalism into the tiniest bodies.

Disney has done it again! According to The Hollywood Reporter, the trailer for The Lion King, which debuted on Thanksgiving day, is Disney's second most-viewed trailer debut from any studio in 24 hours.
