Burning Coal Theatre Company has announced its production of Lynn Nottage's Mlima's Tale, directed by Ana Radulescu.  Mlima's Tale will run January 26 – February 12, 2023, at the Murphey School, located at 224 Polk Street, Raleigh, NC 27604.   Performances are Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30 pm and Sundays at 2 pm. 

Beginning January 1, Shermona Mitchell will ascend to Sound Theatre's co-artistic director position, serving alongside founding artistic director Teresa Thuman. Effective immediately by unanimous board vote, Mitchell will also step down as Board President - where, in a historic first for the organization, in 2021 she became the first Black womxn to lead the board. 

The Harold and Mimi Steinberg Charitable Trust has announced the names of the two outstanding early-to-mid-career playwrights who will be celebrated with 2022 Steinberg Playwright Awards in the amount of $100,000 each.  This year’s recipients of the “Mimi” Awards are James Ijames and Lloyd Suh. 

Inis Nua Theatre Company will open its 19th season with the American premiere of 10 Dates With Mad Mary, written by Yasmine Akram. This comedy play tells the story of Mary McArdle, an antisocial young woman trying to find a date for her best friend’s wedding. The show runs from October 26, 2022 until November 6, for a total of eight performances.

Theatre for a New Audience has announced the one-week extension of Remember This: The Lesson of Jan Karski, by Clark Young and Derek Goldman, directed by Goldman, and starring David Strathairn (Nightmare Alley; Nomadland; Good Night, and Good Luck).

From September 9 to October 8, 2022, SpeakEasy Stage Company will present the Boston premiere of the provocative drama HEROES OF THE FOURTH TURNING by Will Arbery.

Roundabout Theatre Company has announced the complete cast for the world premiere of You Will Get Sick, a new play by Noah Diaz directed by Tony Award nominee Sam Pinkleton. The cast includes Marinda Anderson, Daniel K. Isaac, Linda Lavin, Nate Miller, and Dario Ladani Sanchez all of whom are making their Roundabout Theatre Company debuts.

Steppenwolf Theatre Company will open its 47th season with the Chicago premiere of Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright James Ijames’ fantastical play The Most Spectacularly Lamentable Trial of Miz Martha Washington, playing September 1 – October 9, 2022.

The Kennedy Center engagement of To Kill a Mockingbird, Academy Award® winner Aaron Sorkin’s new play, directed by Tony® winner Bartlett Sher and based on Harper Lee’s classic novel, will play the Kennedy Center’s Opera House, June 21–July 10, 2022. Burning Coal Theatre Company will present its production of What If If Only (US premiere) and Air (world premiere) by Caryl Churchill, directed by Ana Radulescu, June 9 - 26, 2022.  This production, directed by Burning Coal’s Associate Artistic Director, will be performed at Burning Coal’s home, the Murphey School, 224 Polk Street, Raleigh, NC 27604.
