Pioneer Theatre Company has announced the line-up for its 2023 Play-by-Play series.

CHELSEA TABLE + STAGE will present the return of Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter and actor Reeve Carney on Sunday, June 4 at 9:30 PM.

The track is the follow-up to last month's single 'Somebody Else.' Produced by the band in a playground of vintage gear and mixed by Barny Barnicott (Arctic Monkeys, Sam Fender, Kasabian), the ten tracks on Excuse Me While I Vanish marry earworm tunes with insistent, imperious, soaring rock shapes. The National Theatre’s acclaimed, Olivier Award-winning production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Oklahoma! is headed to cinemas worldwide this summer. Babes With Blades Theatre Company's (BWBTC) 2023 season opens with an extended run of its new works festival, collectively called Fighting Words, June 17– 25 at The Edge Off Broadway, 1133 W. Catalpa.  All performances are free to the public and audiences can provide feedback on the scripts following each reading.

A private industry reading of a new stage musical Farmyard Follies will be held May 15th. An original musical, the work features a score and book by Blake Allen (Insomnia; the shards of an honor code junkie) and Critic's Choice Award Winner, Christopher Seeber (aka Tina Burner from RuPaul's Drag Race Season 13) and is inspired by an idea by three-time Canadian Screen Award Nominee Aimée Beaudoin (Caution: May Contain Nuts). Drama Desk-Nominee and Lortel Award Winner Tye Blue (Titaníque) is directing with Allen as musical director.

On the occasion of the 75th Anniversary of the establishment of the State of Israel, a not commonly cited friendship, between President Harry S. Truman and a Kansas City friend may well have had an outsized influence on the success of the new tiny country.   That man was Eddie Jacobson, Truman’s close friend since 1905. Both Truman and Jacobson served in the same World War I artillery unit, became business partners, and remained lifelong friends.   

The music-driven tale, set in post 9-11 NYC, features music supervision from Jonathan Leahey (Girls, Swarm, Mr. Robot), and an original score from composer and producer Jason Hill (Gone Girl, Mindhunter). The soundtrack becomes available on the same day as the global premiere of “City on Fire” on Apple TV+.

The Obsidian Theatre Festival has announced the line-up for the 3rd Annual Obsidian Theatre Festival, taking place at 3 different locations in downtown Detroit. 

Last year, acclaimed theatre and opera director Deborah Warner took over as Artistic Director of the Ustinov Studio. She proposed a radical new programming model for the theatre where OPERA, DANCE and SONG would be programmed alongside THEATRE.
