Mercury Theatre Colchester and TBO Productions Announce Brand New Musical PIECES OF STRING

Mercury Theatre Colchester and TBO Productions today announce the world premiere of the brand-new musical - Pieces of String with book, music and lyrics by Gus Gowland. The production, directed by Ryan McBryde and designed by 2017 Linbury Prize Finalist Fin Redshaw, opens on 27 April at the Mercury, with previews from 20 April and runs until 5 May.

Philip Ridley's Modern Classic VINCENT RIVER To Receive Regional Premiere At Hope Mill Theatre

The thrilling and heartbreaking play Vincent River, by award-winning playwright and author Philip Ridley, has been relocated to Manchester - the city where it is to receive its regional premiere next month. Yet Another Carnival and Hope Mill Theatre present Vincent River by Philip Ridley and directed by John Young from Tuesday 27 February to Saturday 24 March 2018 at Hope Mill Theatre.

UK's Oldest Traditional Sari Shops Are Setting For HANDLOOMS

Set to unfold within two of the UK's last remaining traditional sari shops, Rasa Theatre and Contact present HANDLOOMS, written by Rani Moorthy and directed by Alan Lane (Slung Low). Exploring the sari from a rarely-taken male perspective, this immersive performance will be performed inside working businesses Alankar House of Sarees in the heart of Manchester's Curry Mile and Anokhi House of Sarees in Leicester to give audiences a close encounter with a world that is slowly dying out.

Natasha Bucknor, Karena Johnson And Sam Jones Announced For Sixth Tonic Celebrates Panel

Tonic Theatre announced that Natasha Bucknor, executive director of Talawa Theatre Company, Karena Johnson, artistic director of Hoxton Hall, and casting director Sam Jones will make up the panel for the sixth Tonic Celebrates event, which will take place at Hoxton Hall on Wednesday 21 February, as part of Hoxton Hall's all-female season.

Casting Announced for RETURNING TO HAIFA at Finborough Theatre

The world premiere of the first English-language adaptation of the classic novella by Ghassan Kanafani, Returning to Haifa, adapted for the stage by Naomi Wallace and Ismail Khalidi, opens at the Finborough Theatre for a four week limited season on Tuesday, 27 February 2018 (Press Nights: Thursday 1 and Friday 2 March 2018 at 7.30pm).

Menier Chocolate Factory To Stage A Major New Production Of KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN

The Menier Chocolate Factory, in association with Darren Bagert, today announces a major new production of Manuel Puig's ground-breaking novel Kiss of the Spider Woman by Jos Rivera and Allan Baker. Laurie Sansom directs this iconic play, making his Menier debut. The production opens on 21 March, with previews from 8 March, and runs until 5 May.

Rose Theatre Kingston Announces Full Cast for CURTAINS

As part of their 10th anniversary season Rose Theatre Kingston today announces the full cast for Stephen Bill's award-winning play Curtains. Lindsay Posner directs Leo Bill (Michael), Caroline Catz (Susan), Jonathan Coy (Geoffrey), Tim Dutton (Douglas), Wendy Nottingham (Margaret), Saskia Reeves (Katherine), Sandra Voe (Ida) and Marjorie Yates (Mrs Jackson). The production opens on Wednesday 28 February, with previews from Thursday 22 February, and runs until Saturday 17 March.

Eve Ensler, Diane Paulus and More Set for IN THE BODY OF THE WORLD Talkbacks at MTC

Lynne Meadow (Artistic Director) and Barry Grove (Executive Producer) have announced a post-performance Beyond the Stage talkback series for Manhattan Theatre Club's New York premiere of the American Repertory Theater production of In the Body of the World, written and performed by Tony Award winner Eve Ensler and directed by Tony Award winner Diane Paulus.

SHAKESPEARE HIS WIFE AND THE DOG Come to The Broad Stage, 1/18-28

The Eli and Edythe Broad Stage in Santa Monica and Bated Breath present the U.S. Premiere of Shakespeare his wife and the dog by Philip Whitchurch, featuring its originating cast: Whitchurch as Shakespeare and Sally Edwards as Anne Hathaway, and directed as it was in the U.K. by Julia St John, for twelve performances only, January 18 through 28 with a press opening on January 19.

Casting Announced For UK Tour of DR JEKYLL & MR HYDE

Touring Consortium Theatre Company and Rose Theatre Kingston today announce the full company for Robert Louis Stevenson's Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde adapted for the stage by David Edgar. Dan Bates, Chief Executive Of Sheffield Theatres, To Take A Short Sabbatical

Sheffield Theatres today announces that Chief Executive, Dan Bates, will take a short sabbatical to explore opportunities for the company in the Far East. The sabbatical, which has been part-funded by the Arts Council and British Council's Artists' International Development Fund, will provide an opportunity for Bates to explore international collaborations for the Theatres as well as meeting with industry leaders to share and gather best practice.

Full Cast Announced for Michael Boyd's THE CHERRY ORCHARD at Bristol Old Vic

Full casting for Michael Boyd's much anticipated production of The Cherry Orchard is announced today as rehearsals begin for the Bristol Old Vic and Royal Exchange Theatre co-production. Rory Mullarkey's brand-new translation will be directed by Boyd, celebrated former Artistic Director of the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC). Having studied Russian and trained as a director in Moscow, extraordinarily, he will be directing Chekhov the literary love of his life for the first time.
