Great Lakes Theater Festival opens the season with Rupert Holmes' Tony Award-winning THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD and Shakespeare's enchanting TWELFTH NIGHT.

The National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) and Executive Director Kathy Evans announced the writers for the Songwriters Showcase, which will be Co-hosted by David Zippel & Dee Hoty as well as additional casting for the eight musicals in the 21st Annual Festival of New Musicals at New World Stages (340 West 50th St) on Monday, October 19 and Tuesday, October 20, 2009.

The National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) and Executive Director Kathy Evans announced the directors, music directors and preliminary casts for the eight musicals being presented as 45-minute staged readings for its 21st Annual Festival of New Musicals at New World Stages (340 West 50th St) on Monday, October 19 and Tuesday, October 20, 2009.

Building on a series of firsts, the Baldwin-Wallace College Conservatory of Music will continue to break ground with in-repertory productions of La Bohème by Giacomo Puccini and RENT by Jonathan Larson in February 2011. Larson based RENT on the story of La Boheme and used a number of melodic themes from the opera for his musical.

PlayhouseSquare and the Baldwin-Wallace College Conservatory of Music (B-W) are partnering to present the first regional premiere of [title of show], May 1-3 at the 14th Street Theatre at PlayhouseSquare. The show will feature current students in the Baldwin-Wallace Music Theatre Program under the direction of nationally acclaimed director Victoria Bussert, head of the music theatre program at B-W. This will be the second year that the multi-tiered collaboration between PlayhouseSquare and the Baldwin-Wallace Music Theatre Program as well as the Arts Management Program will occur.

Based on the 1975 cult-documentary of the same name, Grey Gardens is the hilarious yet heartbreaking story of Jackie Kennedy's delightfully eccentric aunt and cousin, Edith Bouvier Beale and her adult daughter 'Little' Edie. Show times are 8:00 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 3:00 p.m. Sundays. There is no performance on Saturday, February 28.

Barrington Stage Company Board President Mary Ann Quinson and Artistic Director Julianne Boyd announce that Richard M. Parison, Jr. has been named Barrington Stage's new Producing Director. Richard assumes this new leadership position on September 15, 2008 after acting as Associate Producer for the 2008 summer season.
