On Tuesday, October 4th, 2022, No Dream Deferred NOLA announced the  WE WILL DREAM: New Works Festival play selections. Supported by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and in partnership with the Andre Cailloux Center for Performing Arts and Cultural Justice and HowlRound Theatre Commons, the new festival will run from March 19, 2023-June 19, 2023.

Tony winner Michael R. Jackson and Kyle Ramar Freeman appeared on SHERRI this morning to sing 'Memory Song' from A Strange Loop. Earlier in the episode, Jackson sat down with Sherri Shepherd to discuss the show's success on Broadway. Freeman understudies the roles of Usher and Thought 4, 5, and 6 in the show. The Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan has announced the line-up for fall theater arts programs, happening in-person with the Lambert Center for Arts + Ideas in Goldman-Sonnenfeldt Auditorium and at JCC Harlem.

American Conservatory Theater will usher in the holiday season with the in-person return of its celebrated production of the Charles Dickens classic, A Christmas Carol. A Christmas Carol performs at A.C.T.’s Toni Rembe Theater November 30–December 24, 2022. 

The Tony Award-winning Best Musical A STRANGE LOOP will play its final Broadway performance on January 15, 2023. Michael R. Jackson’s A STRANGE LOOP opened April 26, at the Lyceum Theatre. A Strange Loop was named Best Musical by the Tony Awards.

THE FOREIGNER at As If Theatre provides a farcical romp of entertainment while yet managing to deliver a poignant message on racism and fear of others that remains as relevant today as when Shue wrote it forty years ago. Thoroughly seeded with absurdities and archetypes, the play offers easy laughs. However, the intricacy of the story and writing also provide much more for the audience to digest. THE FOREIGNER engages the mind, lifts the spirits, and soothes the soul.

During the interview, the cast of “A Strange Loop” surprised Hudson with a video message, as Michael and Jennifer announced that they will collaborate on a reimagined version of the musical’s song “Boundaries” as a bonus track on the “A Strange Loop” cast album. Bob the Drag Queen will host a Big, Black and Queer Night for the Tony Award-winning Best Musical A STRANGE LOOP on Thursday, October 27, at 7 p.m.
