Based on Alice Walker's 1982 novel and successive film in 1985, The Color Purple has enjoyed award-winning success, both for its original Broadway production in 2005 and then its revival in 2015. The show's first international production opened for a limited season in London in 2013 and in a co-production between Curve and Birmingham Hippodrome, The Color Purple is currently delighting Leicester audiences.

Broadway Kids Jam has released their latest jam, 'Candy Store' from the Off Broadway and soon to be West End musical, Heathers. The 'Candy Store' jam features Joshua Turchin (The Pill, TrevorLIVE LA, A Christmas Story the Musical), Molly Richardson (Matilda), Mckayla Twiggs (Anastasia, Les Miserables, Once), and Sami Bray (1984, How the Grinch Stole Christmas).

BWW Interview: Director Michael Blakemore Talks Musical THE LIFE

Michael Blakemore's stellar directing career encompasses everything from landmark productions at the National, where he was associate director, to West End and Broadway hits. He was the first director to win a Tony Award for both Best Director of a Play and a Musical in the same year (for Michael Frayn's Copenhagen and Kiss, Me Kate). Now, he's helming the long-awaited UK premiere of Cy Coleman musical The Life - a gritty exploration of 1980s New York's underbelly - which he first directed on Broadway in 1997. The show begins previews at Southwark Playhouse on 25 March.
