Photos: RICHARD III At A Noise Within

Production photos have been released for RICHARD III, which begins performances this Saturday at A Noise Within. The production is a streamlined staging of William Shakespeare’s Richard III, reimagined in 1970s Britain and directed by Guillermo Cienfuegos.

Review: FOSTERED at Pacific Resident Theatre

Fostered is a must-see world premiere comedy at Pacific Resident Theatre in Venice.  The spirit of silliness and fun is bubbly and infectious.  How often do we get to enjoy something sexy, smart, funny and effervescent, like a classic, delicious Woody Allen sex comedy?  The roars of audience laughter and applause never let up, and personally, I laughed so hard, I almost fell out of my chair.

Review: LINES IN THE DUST at Matrix Theatre

Chronicling the story of school residency fraud in the affluent township of Millburn, New Jersey, Lines in the Dust fearlessly tackles uncomfortable, vital issues of identity, education, class, race, and access to opportunity. While describing it, I feel it’s almost inevitable that I am making this play sound like a policy discourse or social treatise, but this enthralling drama is also incredibly human, passionate, and emotionally shattering. Lines in the Dust is a significant tour de force.

Interview: Kelly Jenrette Doesn't Draw LINES IN THE DUST

Collaborative Artists Bloc & Support Black Theatre will West Coast premiere Nikkole Salter’s Lines in the Dust November 4, 2023 at the Matrix Theatre. Desean K. Terry directs the cast of Kelly Jenrette, Erica Tazel and Tony Pasqualini, with Kelly and Erica playing the dual roles of Beverly and Denitra. Kelly was most gracious to make time out of her rehearsals to answer a few of my queries.

Review: A GREAT WILDERNESS at the Matrix

Rogue Machine Theatre has produced several of the Samuel D. Hunter's works and in A GREAT WILDERNESS, director Elina de Santos, knows exactly which gears to pull.

Ensemble Studio Theatre/LA Presents World Premiere of WATCHING O.J.

Ensemble Studio Theatre/LA continues with their WORLD PREMIERE of Click and drag to move Watching O.J. by David McMillan Continuing through Black History month February 5th - 28, 2016 Running at 8pm Fridays and Saturdays, and 2pm Sundays EST/LA is in the Atwater Village Theatre complex at 3269 Casitas Ave. LA, CA 90039 Tickets are $19.95 in advance at watchingoj.com or $25 at the door.

BWW Review: Intense WATCHING O.J. Provides A Delicate Balancing Act of Dejá Vu Tensions

In the world premiere of his WATCHING O.J., playwright David McMillan deftly balances both sides of the black and white/innocent vs. guilty/jubilant and angry reactions of a multi-racial neighborhood in their varied responses to the infamous O.J. Simpson verdict in 1995. A cross-section of races and occupations make a volatile combustion fueled by the explosive portrayals of the stellar cast.
