Original Broadway cast member Eva Noblezada will play her final performance as ‘Eurydice’ in Hadestown on Sunday, August 13.

The cast of the Tony Award-winning musical 'Hadestown' recently made a visit to Edge at Hudson Yards, the highest outdoor observation deck in the Western Hemisphere. As part of their visit, the talented ensemble had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the enchanting atmosphere of 'The Hadestown Heart,' a stunning rose heart sculpture that will be on display at Edge throughout the entire duration of Sky Bloom. Tony Award winner Lillias White, who plays Hermes – the first woman to do so – messenger of the gods, has extended her run in the Tony Award-winning Best Musical at the Walter Kerr Theatre.

Westport Country Playhouse will present a Script in Hand playreading of “Agatha Christie’s The Murder of Roger Ackroyd” on Monday, June 12, at 7 p.m.  From the novel by Agatha Christie, the cunning tale of murder and deception is a brand new adaptation for the stage by Mark Shanahan, who will also direct. This summer, the Alley Theatre in Houston will stage the play’s world premiere production.

At today’s matinee, Hadestown will play its 918th performance making the musical the longest-running show in the 100-year history of the Walter Kerr Theatre. Hadestown began preview performances at the Kerr on March 22, 2019 and opened April 17, 2019.

Told through a haunting folk rock, blues, gospel and jazz-infused score, HADESTOWN puts a stylistic and modern twist on the tragic love stories of Orpheus and Eurydice and of Persephone, the goddess of spring and Hades, the king of the underworld. Bringing the role of Hades to life in the national tour of HADESTOWN, which takes the stage at the Dr. Phillips Center in Orlando December 13th – 18th, will be Matthew Patrick Quinn. I caught up with Matthew to find out more about HADESTOWN and what it’s like performing this visionary show to audiences all over the country.

After announcing this year’s list of Carbonell Award nominations last Friday, the organization quickly realized that clarifications and additions were necessary. This invariably happens with any complicated, first-time process, so the nonprofit organization ordered a recalculation of the scores in all 20 categories.

Lana Gordon and Drama Desk nominee Ryan Silverman will return to Chicago in the roles of Velma Kelly and Billy Flynn, respectively, on Tuesday, April 12 at the Ambassador Theatre (219 W. 49th St.; New York, NY). They join Tony Award nominee Brenda Braxton, who previously played Velma Kelly and now takes on the role of Matron “Mama” Morton.
