Following a successful run in China that closed on January 14, 2020, Big League Productions, Inc.'s DREAMGIRLS will travel to Japan for performances January 29 through February 16.

Amas Musical Theatre (Donna Trinkoff, Artistic Producer) in association with Eric Krebs will present the Off-Broadway premiere of Romeo & Bernadette: A Musical Tale of Verona and Brooklyn, with book and lyrics by Mark Saltzman, music adapted from classic Italian melodies, and directed and choreographed by Justin Ross Cohen. Previews begin at the Mezzanine Theatre at A.R.T./New York Theatres 502 West 53rd Street (10th Avenue & 53rd Street) tomorrow night, Tuesday, January 14th at 7pm with an official opening on Thursday, January 23rd at 8pm. Performances will continue through February 16, 2020.

The Boulet Brothers, whose a?oeDragulaa?? TV series is now in its third season on Netflix and OUTtv.ca, will be special guest hosts at the Saturday, Feb. 1, 10 PM performance of Tom Eyen's a?oeWomen Behind Barsa?? at the Montalban Theatre in Hollywood. Known individually as Dracmorda and Swanthula Boulet, they are internationally-known nightlife producers and hosts who developed the a?oeDragulaa?? TV series based loosely on their long-running club event of the same name, which ran monthly in Los Angeles and San Francisco, with special events in New York and Austin, Texas.

a?oeWomen Behind Bars,a?? the classic Tom Eyen comedy hit, will feature a live special introduction by Kathy Griffin at the Jan. 26 Sunday matinee performance, 3 PM at the Montalban Theatre in Hollywood.   

Tom Eyen's cult classic WOMEN BEHIND BARS will take up residency on The Montalbán stage for a two weekend-run beginning January 24, 2020. Scott Thompson directs an ensemble of eclectic pop culture stars, including Traci Lords as the head troublemaker Gloria. Traci was most gracious to take some time to answer a few of my inquisitive questions.

a?oeWomen Behind Bars,a?? the classic prison comedy by a?oeDreamgirlsa?? writer Tom Eyen, will have its first new Equity revival Jan. 24-Feb. 2, at the 900-seat Montalban Theatre in Hollywood (formerly the Doolittle).   It is being directed and co-produced by award-winning director-choreographer Scott Thompson.

Ginger Minj, a fan-favorite on a?oeRuPaul's Drag Racea?? and a?oeRuPaul's Drag Race All-Stars,a?? has joined the cast of the Los Angeles revival of Tom Eyen's cult prison comedy a?oeWomen Behind Bars,a?? playing the role of Ada.  The Equity production will run for eight performances only for two consecutive weekends, Jan. 24-Feb. 2, at the 900-seat Montalban Theatre in Hollywood (formerly the Doolittle), directed by Scott Thompson.  Minj replaces the previously-announced Thorgy Thor, who has withdrawn due to a conflict.  

The hit musical Dreamgirls will embark on its first ever UK tour, opening in Bristol in September 2020 before dates in Milton Keynes, Blackpool, Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Birmingham, with further venues throughout 2021 still to be announced. Tickets will go on sale this week with specific box office information available at Dreamgirlsthemusical.co.uk.

Justin Sayre's camp-horror-soap-opera, twelve-episode serial RAVENSWOOD MANOR will take the Celebration Theatre stage beginning October 17, 2019 for a six-week run. Ray originated the lead role of 'Rusty' in the show's West End production.

This week that dream is realized in The 13th Street Repertory Theatre's production of Women Behind Bars, directed by Battista, and produced by Roslyn McKay. Could DREAMGIRLS be steppin' to the bad side on Broadway later this season? An Equity Principal Audition for the production will be held next week at Pearl Studios. An audition listing notes the production will be directed by Casey Nicholaw, produced by Sonia Friedman Production and land on Broadway in 2019/20.
