SF Sketchfest announces the initial lineup for the 20th Anniversary comedy festival taking place January 7-23 in venues across San Francisco.

On Friday, December 6, SHOWTIME hosted the premiere for the new comedy series WORK IN PROGRESS. The screening was held at the AMC River East 21 in Chicago and was followed by a reception at the Beacon Tavern.

Mason Parrish once asked his father, writer/director Chris Parrish, if they could make movies together when he grows up. Chris said, 'Of course.' Making Thrill Ride, the award-winning family-adventure movie from Mason's Movies and distributed by Gravitas Ventures, is Chris' way of keeping that promise.

ShawChicago honored Jay Tunney at annual gala, Shaw's Speakeasy. The gala took place on May 19th at the Casino, 195 E. Delaware Place and gifted Jay R. Tunney with the Bernie Award for his unending support of ShawChicago's work. The Bernie Award is given to individuals who have provided distinguished support in promoting the words and works of George Bernard Shaw in Chicago and around the world.

Light Opera Works presents the Johann Strauss operetta DIE FLEDERMAUS (in English) with a 30-piece orchestra, December 26, 2016- January 1, 2017, at Cahn Auditorium in Evanston.

ShawChicago presents Shakespeare's People, a collection of the Bard's most coveted words, and the American premiere of James Barrie's lost epic, Shakespeare's Legacy. It premiered 100 years ago, was lost, and later uncovered at the University of Chicago library. This one-night performance is part of the Shakespeare 400 celebration in Chicago. It will take place on October 24 at the Ruth Page Center for the Arts, 1016 N. Dearborn Street, Chicago, IL 60610.

The Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) and Allstate Insurance Company announced today that they will present the second 'Rising Star' youth award to Joshlyn Camille Lomax during the third-annual Fifth Star Awards on Wednesday, September 14 at 7pm-at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park. The award celebrates the achievements of Chicago youth demonstrating promise and career aspirations in the arts. Lomax, a student at CPS' Chicago Academy for the Arts (ChiArts), was selected from a pool of nominees submitted by the public and several Chicago high school arts programs.
