The producers of the new British import film, What’s Love Got To Do With It?, have a knack for funny, heart-warming romantic comedies.

This evening, the 2023 Helen Hayes Awards took place at The Anthem on the District Wharf, with over 1,600 theatre-makers and theatre supporters in attendance. Esteemed Washington theatre artists Naomi Jacobson, Erika Rose, Holly Twyford, and Christopher Michael Richardson hosted an evening showcasing the vibrant and diverse community of professional theatre artists in the Washington region.

Situation Project, in partnership with the producers of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s BAD CINDERELLA and the NYC Department of Education, with generous support from The Ronald and Jo Carole Lauder Foundation and Mr. Robert and Dr. Dana Kraft, hosted matinee performances on April 19th and April 26th for students from under-resourced communities.

Scarborough Open Air Theatre has announced that two of the performances of the sensational feel-good musical MAMMA MIA! will be British Sign Language interpreted. Official interpreter and self-confessed ABBA superfan Tony Redshaw will sign the full show for the performances on Friday June 16 and the matinee on Saturday June 17.

Phyllida Lloyd’s (Director)’ Laurence Olivier Award Nominated and Tony Award Nominated TINA, THE TINA TURNER MUSICAL, which premiered in London in 2019, has been bought to Sydney with Australian born Ruva Ngwenya stepping into the iconic short skirts and high hair to deliver a breathtaking performance.

Dorset Theatre Festival has announced full casting for Stephen King's Misery, adapted for the stage by William Goldman, which will open the 46th Season (June 23 - July 8), and the director for the third show of the season, Kate Hamill's Ms. Holmes and Ms. Watson - Apt. 2B (August 11 - 26).

THE GREEN ROOM 42 has announced that the Lady Bunny show “Don’t Bring the Kids,” an hour of jokes and demented song parodies from the New York drag legend, has extended its run due to popular demand.

The arrangements are harmonically sophisticated, drawing on the open tunings and intricate fingerpicking of English songwriters like Nick Drake or Richard Thompson. Ellis’s performances are similarly subtle and nuanced, tapping into the bittersweet longing of Chet Baker and the playful poignancy of Bill Evans and Jim Hall.

The Triangle Rising Star Awards is a regional competition that brings together high school musical theater students from Central and Eastern North Carolina to perform and compete for the chance to represent the Triangle in The National High School Musical Theater (otherwise known as The Jimmy) Awards in New York City on June 26th.

The Ramkota Hotel and the Ford Wyoming Center has announced the 2024 Season of Broadway at the Ford, including Hairspray on February 18, Shrek the Musical on March 12, and Annie on April 25. Season tickets will go on sale on Thursday, June 1 at 10:00 am.

Fleet Foxes have announced a global streaming event of their March 2023 set at “The Spring Recital” which took place at Los Angeles’ Belasco Theatre. Fleet Foxes will set off on a North American tour next month, kicking off in Cleveland with stops at Bonnaroo Festival, Halifax Jazz Festival and 3 co-headline dates with My Morning Jacket in August.
