LA Opera will present the grandest of grand operas, Giuseppe Verdi's Aida, from May 12 through June 12, 2022, conducted by Music Director James Conlon. 

Back by popular demand, LA Opera will resume its annual live simulcasts at three locations this year. At 7:30pm on Saturday, June 4, 2022, LA Opera's production of Giuseppe Verdi's Aida will be transmitted live in high-definition video from nine cameras at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion to large LED screens at Newhall Park in Santa Clarita, Pomona Fairplex and the Santa Monica Pier. 

As it moves into the final stretch of its 25th anniversary season, Schmidt Vocal Arts (SVA) is eagerly anticipating the final destination: from June 3–5, 2022, Sarasota Opera will host over 30 singers – the top three winners from each of 13 regional competitions and from an independent, virtual cohort are eligible – competing in the company's William E. Schmidt Opera Theatre for the first national award in the Schmidt Vocal Competition's history.

The Metropolitan Opera today announced its 2022–23 season, which features seven new productions, the most in ten seasons. On October 14, 2021, San Francisco Opera presented Beethoven’s only opera, Fidelio, in a well-thought-out production with an outstanding cast. Matthew Ozawa directed the action in a prison of the current era. There, Leonore, a prisoner’s wife disguises herself as a male worker and rescues her husband from unjust incarceration.
