3-D Theatricals of Los Angeles and Orange County Presents Monty Python's SPAMALOT

3-D Theatricals of Los Angeles County and Orange County is pleased to present Monty Python's Tony Award-winning musical comedy SPAMALOT August 4 – 13 at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center (with an official press opening of August 5); and August 18 – 27, 2017 at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts.

Dezart Performs Nominated for 27 Desert Theatre League Awards

The Desert Theatre League announced their Desert Star Award nominations for the 2016-17 Season on August 1. Charles Busch to Kick Off New 'OutStage@PBD' Series at Palm Beach Dramaworks

Palm Beach Dramaworks takes great pride in announcing that Charles Busch, the celebrated playwright, actor, director, cabaret artist, and drag legend, will appear in concert on Saturday evening, September 16 at 8pm, at the Don & Ann Brown Theatre. An Evening with Charles Busch marks the kickoff of a new series, OutStage@PBD, which offers special performances and events tailored to the LGBTQ community.

Samuel French has assembled a distinguished judging panel including playwrights Jiehae Park, James Hindman, Lauren Yee and Rachel Bonds; Artistic Directors Andrew Leynse (Primary Stages), Jonathan Silverstein (Keen Company), Susan Westfall (City Theatre, Miami), Emily Morse (New Dramatists) and Ciera Iverson (National Alliance of Musical Theatres); and industry professionals John Clinton Eisner (The Lark), Michael Walkup (Page 73), Abigail Katz (Atlantic Theater Company).

SWEENEY TODD Opens 7/14 at Palm Beach Dramaworks

There's a new tonsorial parlor setting up shop at Palm Beach Dramaworks this summer, and the proprietor possesses skills that can best be described as cutthroat. Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, the brilliant Tony Award-winning musical thriller by Stephen Sondheim (music and lyrics) and Hugh Wheeler (book), opens at the Don & Ann Brown Theatre on July 14, following a specially priced preview on July 13. This deliciously macabre and witty tale of a throat-slitting barber and his enterprising accomplice, Mrs. Lovett, who grinds his victims into meat pies, runs through August 6. Clive Cholerton directs and Emmanuel Schvartzman, making his PBD debut, is the musical director.

CAESAR To Go On After Director's Death at Kingsmen Shakespeare Company

Our hearts go out to the members of Kingsmen Shakespeare Company who are mourning the unexpected death of John Slade. John was directing this summer's production of JULIUS CAESAR set to open July 21st. The show will go on with the festival's founder stepping in to bring his colleague's vision to the stage.

Palm Beach Dramaworks presents Avery Sommers

Broadway veteran and South Florida favorite Avery Sommers, whose voice has been described as a "powerhouse" by The New York Times, takes the stage in Palm Beach Dramaworks' new cabaret series at the Perlberg Studio Theatre from June 23 - June 25. Sommers will present a program of songs by Fats Waller, Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart, George and Ira Gershwin, Marvin Hamlisch, Whitney Houston, Donna Sumner, and others. She will be accompanied by Irwin Solomon at the piano.

Stage Directors and Choreographers Society Takes a Stand on Health Care Reform

The Executive Board of SDC, the theatrical union representing Stage Directors and Choreographers across the United States, unanimously voted to endorse the New York State Health Act (S4840) and the New York Health Program (A4738), sister bills designed to establish universal single-payer health care for all New York residents.

Nine Time Emmy Winning Producer David Lee Offers Matching Grant To Coyote Stageworks

Nine-time Emmy Award-winning television producer and writer David Lee, best known for Frasier, Wings, and Cheers, has generously offered to match all gifts up to $30,000 that will be contributed to the theater company through Labor Day. Of this tremendous gift, Lee said, "Coyote StageWorks consistently has produced much of the finest live theater in the Valley, but it is a well-kept secret. I make this matching gift to support their continuing artistic excellence, to draw attention to this wonderful company, and to put the community on notice that without their financial support we could lose this precious commodity." In making this commitment, he hopes to encourage people who haven't supported Coyote StageWorks to step up and do so now while they can double the effect of their donation.

Theatre Artists-in-Residence Arrive for Summer Project

Nettle Creek Players, a 501c3 not-for-profit arts organization, on Monday, June 19 will welcome to Hagerstown a troupe of visiting professional theatre artists who will live in the community for five weeks as they prepare and present the Nettle Creek Players 2017 Summer Stock Tent Theatre Season featuring productions of THE FANTASTICKS, THUMBELINA, BROADWAY ON MAIN STREET, and the NCP Young Actors Musical Theatre Workshop.  Performances of THE FANTASTICKS will be at 7:30pm on July 7, 8, 9, 13, 14, 15, 20, 21 & 22 with BROADWAY ON MAIN STREET at 2:00pm on July 9, 16 & 23 and THUMBELINA at 11:00am and 1:00pm on July 15 & 22, 2017.  The Workshop will be offered from July 11-23, 10:00am-3:00pm. 

2017 Jimmy Award Nominees Announced; Ben Platt to Host Ceremony This Month at the Minskoff!

THE JIMMY AWARDS have announced that 74 high school students from across America will compete for the award for Best Performance by an Actor and Actress as well as other honors and scholarships at the ninth annual awards ceremony. The presentation will take place on Monday, June 26th at 7:30PM at the Minskoff Theatre, 200 West 45th Street in Manhattan.
