Chatillion Stage Company has launched Project Mercury, a new anthology series of original audio plays, which takes its inspiration from Orson Welles' The Mercury Theatre on the Air. 

Mark Plesent, long-time Producing Artistic Director of Working Theater, the only theater in the country dedicated exclusively to telling the stories of working people, passed away on February 19, 2021 after a valiantly fought 4-year battle with cancer. He was 60. 

TheaterWorks Hartford announced today that Mr. Parent by Melinda Lopez with Maurice Emmanuel Parent will stream on demand March 7 – 26, 2021 to members and single ticket buyers. Mr. Parent is a hilarious, joyful, and heartbreakingly honest peek into the kids, adults, and systems of Boston Public Schools.

Connecticut arts venues are beginning to see a bit of reprieve, as restrictions have been loosened, allowing venues to hold 50% capacity as of Wednesday. Concessions are also now allowed to be sold.

Dorset Theatre Festival has announced the launch of its new Commissioning and Fellowship Program, welcoming returning director Jade King Carroll as Resident Artist, who will design and oversee this program in collaboration with Artistic Director Dina Janis. Carroll will also work with Janis in producing the Festival’s new StageFree Audio Plays.

As the second production of their 2020-21 season, Renaissance Theaterworks will present Charlayne Woodard's NEAT, with virtuoso actor Marti Gobel playing 24 different characters. NEAT will be available for streaming on demand March 19 through April 11, 2021.

Next up in First Stage's Through Our Lens 2021 Virtual Season of Plays will be Arthur Miller's powerful and timely drama THE CRUCIBLE. Winner of both the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award and inspired by the McCarthy hearings of the 1950s, the play takes audiences back to a fictionalized account of the Salem, Massachusetts witch trials that took place during the years 1692 and 1693.

Peninsula Players Theatre has announced the cast for 'The Dust of Death,' an adaptation by Neil Brookshire of Fred Merrick White's science-fiction short story, 'The Dust of Death: The Story of the Great Plague of the Twentieth Century.'

Up next in First Stage's Virtual Season of Plays is ESCAPE FROM PELIGRO ISLAND - A CREATE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE PLAY, written by award-winning, internationally renowned children's playwright Finegan Kruckemeyer (THE SNOW, 2015 and ANTARCTICA, WI, 2018) and directed by First Stage Artistic Director Jeff Frank.
