Gilbert And Sullivan's PIRATES OF PENZANCE to Dock In Long Beach This May

The Children's Theatre of Long Beach (CTLB), Art in Relation (AIR) and the Scottish Rite Event Center present a historic, hilarious family friendly farce featuring silly pirates, bumbling policemen, and nervous naive young lovers - Gilbert & Sullivan's rollicking musical masterpiece, 'The Pirates of Penzance,' comes alive at the beautiful Ernest Borgnine Theatre at the Scottish Rite Event Center of Long Beach May 11 - May 20, 2018.

RIDE THE CYCLONE, A Co-Production Between The 5th Avenue Theatre And ACT Opens This Week

Ride the Cylcone, this season's dark and hilarious co-production between The 5th Avenue Theatre and ACT - A Contemporary Theatre, is now in preview performances and has its official opening night this Thursday, March 22 at ACT - A Contemporary Theatre. The award-winning director and choreographer Rachel Rockwell has continued to refine and explore the world of Ride the Cyclone with its writers Brooke Maxwell and Jacob Richmond, returning to direct after working on its two previous U.S. productions in Chicago and Off Broadway. This co-production, which is the eighth collaboration between The 5th and ACT, will showcase new developments to the script and score. At least one third of the script has been newly created for this production, which is in addition to countless small but crucial tweaks and refinements. These new developments have continued to define and shape the world that the Saint Cassian High School Chamber Choir inhabits onstage.

Cast And Creatives Announced For U.S. Premiere of DR. SEUSS'S THE LORAX

The Old Globe, together with Children's Theatre Company (CTC), and in partnership with The Old Vic, today announced details for the Minneapolis and San Diego productions of Dr. Seuss's The Lorax in its U.S. premiere. The production, based on the book The Lorax by Dr. Seuss, is adapted for the stage by David Greig (Artistic Director of the Royal Lyceum Theatre Company; recent work: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Cover My Tracks) with music and lyrics written by Charlie Fink (Frontman/songwriter for the hit musical group, Noah and the Whale (2007-2015). H. Adam Harris, along with Meghan Kreidler and Rick Miller puppeteering, will play The Lorax. Joining them is Steven Epp as The Once-ler. Playing multiple roles in the ensemble are Ansa Akyea, Christopher Becknell, Stephanie Bertumen, Brian Bose, Ryan Colbert, Lynnea Doublette, Johannah "Joh" Easley, Rajane Katurah, Ryan Lear, Ryan Dean Maltz, Emily Michaels King, and Autumn Ness.

Florid Studio Theatre Presents THE BOY WHO LIKED PULLING HAIR & OTHER PLAYS

Florida Studio Theatre concludes its second Children's Theatre season with The Boy Who Liked Pulling Hair & Other Winning Plays, a collection of authentic stories from the imaginations of children in sixth grade and below. Part of the WRITE A PLAY program, this production will be performed on the Keating Mainstage by FST Acting Apprentices. With 13 inspiring and invigorating pieces selected from over 3,500 submissions, The Boy Who Liked Pulling Hair & Other Winning Plays reveals children's unique voices.

Boy Sees Flying Saucer, a world premiere new play is now being performed at The Growing Stage, The Children's Theatre of New Jersey through Sunday, March 25. Written by Mike Czuba, the show is based on the true and original story Brian Dorscht. It enjoys inspired direction by Danny Campos and features a cast of thespians that make this dynamic production pure pleasure.

Gamut Theatre Education Center Planned For 2018

The Gamut Theatre Board of Directors voted at its 2018 Annual Meeting to move forward with Phase II of its building renovations to create the Gamut Theatre Education Center, featuring the Alexander Grass Second Stage, two renovated classrooms, areas for students to learn about costume construction, scenery design, sound and lighting, and more.  Its new four-stop elevator and outdoor access will make this space fully accessible and ADA-compliant.

From Minneapolis, Minnesota's Children's Theatre Company comes Seedfolks, making its Off-Broadway Premiere at The New Victory Theater from May 4 - 11, 2018. Based on the book by Newbery Medal-winning Paul Fleischman (Joyful Noise) and directed by Children's Theatre Company Artistic Director Peter C. The Welders Receive Grants For The Development Of New Work

The Welders-Washington's only playwrights' collective devoted exclusively to developing and producing new plays-has received funding for artistic development of projects by individual artists Annalisa Dias, Rachel Hynes and Hannah Hessel Ratner, and the company has been awarded additional funding from the DC Commission on Arts and Humanities specifically to support artistic development.

Reimagined Arkansas Arts Center Revealed

BOY SEES FLYING SAUCER Comes to The Growing Stage

The Growing Stage, The Children's Theatre of New Jersey, located in the Historic Palace Theatre on Route 183 in Netcong, New Jersey is proud to present the world premiere production of BOY SEES FLYING SAUCER from March 9th through 25th with performances Friday evenings at 7:30 PM, Saturday and Sunday matinees at 4:00 PM. BOY SEES FLYING SAUCER, written by Mike Czuba and based on the true and original story by Brian Dorscht, is the winner of our 2017 New Play-Reading Festival. This production is under the direction of Danny Campos, veteran Actor and Teaching Artist of The Growing Stage.

Polka Theatre's Executive Director Stephen Midlane To Retire After 40 Years

Polka Theatre today announces that Stephen Midlane will retire as Executive Director after 40 years at the venue. Midlane was appointed by the founders of Polka, Richard and Elizabeth Gill, in 1977 to act as Project Supervisor on the original building scheme that led to the opening of the Children's Theatre in two years later and has been at the heart of Polka ever since. Midlane steps down from his role at the end of August this year but will continue as an advisor for the upcoming capital development project which has just announced a successful application for its Stage Two Arts Council funding.
