Virginia Repertory Theatre announces the company of the first production of the 2018/19 Children's Season: Mr. Popper's Penguins, opening Today, October 27, 2018, at the Children's Theatre at Willow Lawn. Based on the popular children's book by Richard and Florence Atwater, Mr. Popper's Penguins tells the tale of the gentle British house painter, with a fondness for Antarctic exploration, who finds himself and his family the proud domesticators of a family of penguins. This heartwarming tale will be a holiday treat for the entire family as they follow Mr. Popper, his family, and his talented little penguins.

Theatre Puget Sound (TPS) and the Gregory Awards announced today that Broadway's Don Darryl Rivera will host the 10th Annual Gregory Awards, live at Marion Oliver McCaw Hall at the Seattle Center on Monday, October 22 (7:30pm). This will be Rivera's first time hosting the Gregory Awards, though he has been nominated three times since 2009, most recently receiving Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Musical in last year's ceremony.
The Growing Stage, The Children's Theatre of New Jersey, located in the Historic Palace Theatre on Route 183 in Netcong, New Jersey will be holding auditions for its musical production of the Royal Shakespeare's THE WIZARD OF OZ Monday, August 27 at 7:00 PM for adults and Tuesday, August 28 for young people ten to 17. The production is under the direction of Stephen L. Fredericks, the Growing Stage's Executive Director, with musical direction by Stephen Fox and choreography by Jillian Petrie. The call is open and will run from 7:00 to 10:00 PM. The production has four AEA roles available with all other parts available to community artists. All auditioning should have a song prepared with printed accompaniment that should be no longer than sixteen measures and reading from the script.

Brave Little Company announces a new initiative, THE BIG "US" PROJECT, inviting children and adults in Houston's refugee communities to lead the creation of a large-scale, public performance piece to be shared with all of Houston in March 2019.
