There's magic happening at The Growing Stage, The Children's Theatre of New Jersey. An enchanting, full-scale production of Disney's Beauty and the Beast, The Broadway Musical is being performed through Sunday, October 29. The show is directed by the theatre's Founder and Executive Director, Stephen L. Fredericks, with choreography by Jillian Petrie and musical direction by Stephen Fox.

The Old Globe today announced the complete cast and creative team for the Globe's 20th annual production of Dr. Seuss's How the Grinch Stole Christmas!* The holiday musical will run November 4 - December 24 on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center.

The children's theatre production A Year With Frog and Toad returns to the Arvada Center this fall, running October 13 December 29, 2017. The musical is adapted from the beloved Frog and Toad series of books by Arnold Lobel, and is suitable for all ages. A Year With Frog and Toad is directed by David & Julie Payne, with musical direction by Keith Ewer and choreography by Piper Arpan. The Arvada Center Artistic Producer is Rod A. Lansberry.

Second Street Players Children's Theatre proudly presents Dorothy in Wonderland by Brian D. Taylor October 6th, 7th, and 8th.The Friday and Saturday shows are at 7 PM and the Sunday show is at 1. All performances will be held at the Riverfront Theatre.

The Growing Stage, The Children's Theatre of New Jersey, located in the Historic Palace Theatre in Netcong opens its 36th Main Stage season with Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. The show runs October 6th through the 29th with performances Friday evenings at 7:30 PM, Saturday and Sunday matinees at 4:00 PM.

Stand Up Stories Multicultural Tales to Live By is a collection of parables that brings to life stories from the Greek, Chinese, Native American, and African traditions. Stand Up Stories opens at Santa Barbara's Lobero Theater this weekend, and runs for two nights only: Friday, September 29, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, October 1, at 2 p.m.

The Children's Theatre of Cincinnati presents PETER PAN JR. October 21-30, 2017 at the Taft Theatre. Based on J.M. Barrie's enchanting play, Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up, Peter Pan JR. is a modern version of the timeless tale about the adventures of a mischievous boy. This is the first production in TCT's 2017-2018 MainStage season at the Taft Theatre.

A musical about youth hockey with an abominable snowman, er... yeti? It's gotta be Minnesota, and it's gotta be the Children's Theatre Company. It's no surprise that this new original musical is a surefire hit, the only surprise is that it took them so long to come up with the idea. THE ABOMINABLES was developed by The Civilians, a NYC-based theater company, and researched and workshopped right here in Minnesota. This feels like authentic portrayal, if a bit extreme and fantastical. I attended a backstage tour at the Children's Theatre a few weeks ago, which was hugely exciting as things were starting to come together. It's such a thrill to see the final product this opening weekend and to report to you that this is not only a super fun and entertaining new original musical for kids and adults alike, but also one that celebrates the good (and gently mocks the less than good) of our beloved state of Minnesota while telling a heart-warming story about teamwork, friendship, community, and family that, yes, brought tears to my eyes.

The SDSU School of Theatre, Television, and Film opens its 2017 fall season with Anon(ymous), a play by Naomi Iizuka based on Homer's classic Greek poem The Odyssey. Anon(ymous) runs Friday, September 29 - Sun. October 8 at San Diego State University's Experimental Theatre. Director is Randy Reinholz. Tickets and information available at theatre.sdsu.edu.

Children's Theatre Company (CTC) announces the casting for the premiere of The Abominables, the first Minnesota hockey musical produced in association with The Civilians, written and directed by Steve Cosson with music and lyrics by Michael Friedman and choreography by Joe Chvala. Ryan Bourque (son of Ray Bourque) will serve as Fight and Hockey Choreographer (Ryan is a former Rangers player and current Hershey Bears player).

Broadway In Boston announced today that tickets for the upcoming Boston engagement of THE WIZARD OF OZ, will go on sale to the public on Sunday, September 10, 2017. THE WIZARD OF OZ will play a limited five performances at the Boston Opera House January 12-14, 2018 as part of the 2017-2018 Lexus Broadway In Boston Season.
